Emergency Medical Care Inc. (EMC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Medavie Health Services (MHS) that manages and operates ground ambulance, air medical transport and the medical communications operations in Nova Scotia through a performance-based contract with the provincial government's Emergency Health Services (EHS) Operations division and the Department of Health and Wellness. As well, EMC operates TeleHealth/811 medical communications for Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island for the Department of Health.

We access all communities in Nova Scotia in a timely and efficient manner with our fleet of more than 180 ambulances and support vehicles operating out of 60+ stations. We respond to 165,000+ calls annually across the province, which are actively managed through the EHS Operations Medical Communications Centre, the hub of all emergency (911) and non-emergency (hospital transfers) medical calls.

The EHS Operations LifeFlight program provides even greater accessibility by responding to patients on scene or through inter-facility transports by our critical care team via helicopter, fixed wing, or ground ambulance.

In addition, paramedics in Nova Scotia participate in various programs both urban and rural such as community-based paramedic programs, collaborative emergency centres, and emergency preparedness and special operations, to name a few.

Reporting to the LifeFlight Operations Supervisor, this is a key part of the EHS LifeFlight Team providing sourcing, inventory, ordering, monitoring and resupply of medical consumables and equipment as well as operations support activities. The Materials Management Administrator will also provide shipping & receiving support and facilitate logistics for repairs and preventative maintenance of medical and operational equipment as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- to the following:_
- Operates system vehicles in accordance with the policies of EMC and EHS.
- Maintains and ensures proper documentation for all EHS LifeFlight procurement and logístical accountability.
- Ensure documentation related to orders, invoices, shipping and receiving are provided to the Administrative Assistant.
- Complies with MHS policies and procedures for ordering of supplies, equipment and assets.
- Conducting audits of orders and invoicing as well as budget compliance.
- Development and implementation of Procurement and Inventory Administration best practices.
- Assisting with management of Crown Assets.
- Monitors and responds to drug and supply expiries to avoid shortages.
- Routinely monitors stock levels and proactively orders replacement stock before supplies are diminished.
- Ensures all EHS LifeFlight supply stations including designated hospitals are kept stocked as per established “max” inventory supply levels.
- Provides sourcing, advice, research and identification of vendors when new supplies, equipment or assets are being considered.
- Facilitates shipping and receiving of goods and materials for domestic and international destinations with vendors such as FedEx and UPS.
- Facilitate logistics for repairs and preventative maintenance of medical and operational equipment as required.
- Provide delivery of equipment and supplies to LifeFlight bases and hospitals as required.
- May be required to periodically retrieve program vehicles and equipment, as required.
- Assisting with Operations Support Activities such as blood program exchanges and crew transportation for mission responses and other activities.
- Complies with all existing EMC Safe Work Practices (as appropriate) as well as all other Company policies and procedures.
- Practices good hygiene and demonstrates socially accepted skills and graces when interacting with vendors, colleagues, team members and any member of the general public.
- Performs other such similar, comparable or related duties as may be required or assigned.
- Takes instruction and direction operationally from the Operations Support Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

- Education& Experience:_
- Minimum Grade 12.
- Ability to complete and retain a class 4 Nova Scotia Drivers’ License in good standing.
- Experience with logistics and procurement an asset.
- Current registration or previous paramedic experience is an asset.
- Possesses WHIMIS certification, or a willingness to obtain and maintain.
- Possesses Standard First Aid certification, or a willingness to obtain and maintain.
- Knowledge & Skills:_
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Competent computer skills
- Experience with software such as MS Excel and MS Outlook.
- Displays good decision-making and takes
