The **Resource Scheduling Specialist** will be responsible for the short as well as long-term scheduling and forecasting needs of our Production team. Responsible for planning and reporting of manpower schedules for a large unionized workforce; while controlling operational manpower costs and meeting corporate objectives. The **Resource Scheduling Specialist** will ensure that we are able to deliver on time quality service to our customers at optimal cost by having the right number of manpower assigned on right work at the right time.

**Responsibilities**
- Forecast short and long term staffing needs by analyzing ongoing operations’ throughput
- Publish schedules for multiple operations across different job classifications
- Monitor various work queues to ensure resources are utilized optimally to meet customers’ demand
- Manage long term vacancies and vacation level to ensure staff is adequately allocated with subsequent backfill
- Prioritize work load of departments based as per the production schedule and delivery date
- Deliver advanced planning of staffing levels a month in advance in response to operational changes of the monthly headcount targets while controlling costs
- Liaison with Team Leads to understand workforce capabilities and skills to plan better work allotment
- Communicate schedules and assignments directly to employees/Team leads
- Prepare documentation & reporting of schedule assignments for payroll purposes
- Record keeping of planning assignments and work distribution, preparing documents for planning meetings and potential grievances
- Identifying and communicating workforce trends to the business to highlight future resourcing opportunities and risks
- Identify high-cost drivers in the schedule and rectify through schedule re-work or adjustments
- Deal effectively with employees’ concerns and issues regarding their schedules by efficiently responding to inquiries
- Update and Manage the work queues in real-time based on priorities to meet deadlines
- Take initiative in identifying schedule opportunities and risks and implementing solutions
- Support the leadership team and perform any other duties as required or assigned
- Publish schedules and overtime plans for multiple departments across different classifications
- Working closely with HR and business leaders to integrate standardized workforce planning practices into the organization
- Analyzing workforce and skill gaps, and developing a workforce planning action plan including monitoring progress and updating management
- Liaise with union representative to address employee concerns
- Ensure compliance with the Collective Agreement
- Long term goal to work towards the development of daily staff rosters

- Excellent ability to communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written form.

- Detail oriented, well organized, and able to manage time and multi-task to accomplish a variety of tasks, sometimes with conflicting priorities and timelines
- Ability to effectively work with a significant amount of detail while maintaining perspective on broader objectives.

- Work well under pressure in a time sensitive environment.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work both independently, as well as contribute to a team environment.

- High energy with solid planning skills
- Ability to establish work priorities and perform while under tight deadlines
- Advanced MS Office skills
- Experience with database ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, MS Access)
