**Collingwood Neighbourhood House (CNH)** is a not-for-profit Society serving the Renfrew-Collingwood neighbourhood of East Vancouver. CNH’s mandate is to promote the well-being of the Renfrew-Collingwood community by providing leadership and working collaboratively with individuals, families, agencies and other groups to develop and support inclusive, innovative, sustainable initiatives and services that respond to the community’s social, educational, economic, health, cultural and recreational needs.

**Renfrew-Collingwood Food Justice (RCFJ)** is a Community Development program at Collingwood Neighbourhood House. RCFJ promotes equitable access, intercultural learning and community leadership around sustainable growing, local food, food security, diverse food traditions, and healthy eating in the Renfrew-Collingwood neighbourhood. We believe that food is a human right, and that the “right to food” means much more than meeting basic nutritional requirements. We help bring neighbours together to find solutions to issues like hunger, isolation, and racism in our community.

**JOB OVERVIEW**

The Foodlands Manager is a community development management level position at Collingwood Neighbourhood House (CNH). The Foodlands Manager supervises staff members to engage newcomers in Intercultural community initiatives, promoting Indigenous food sovereignty and urban agriculture to the community through the Norquay Community Food Forest and community gardens, and engaging newcomers and Indigenous community members. The Foodlands Manager is responsible for food justice programming, project management, and fund development; and contributes to larger Community Development initiatives. This position is funded partially through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Supervise Foodlands Coordinators to engage newcomer and Indigenous community members and facilitate stewardship in the foodlands and garden spaces, including the Norquay Community Food Forest, Cheyenne Community Garden, Collingwood Community Garden, and Rooftop Garden
- Oversee community development projects as required, for example the Indigenous Welcome Totem Pole Project
- Coordinate various Indigenous-focused and food justice programs, such as celebrations, Indigenous plant workshops, and gardening workshops
- Establish strong networks and collaborate with external Indigenous partners to advance Truth and Reconciliation efforts, e.g. Working Group for Indigenous Food Sovereignty
- Engage with external food partners to advocate for food justice, e.g. Vancouver Neighbourhood Food Network
- Identify funding opportunities in conjunction with the Food Justice Manager
- Meet grant requirements and provide financial and grant progress reports to funders, e.g. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)
- Ensure all programs are accessible and welcoming to Indigenous communities and newcomers as well as all community members
- Conduct outreach within the neighborhood to promote attendance at RCFJ programs
- Assist in organizing bi-monthly Food Advisory Committee meetings and RCFJ e-newsletters
- Supports community development and organization-wide initiatives

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Experience in or a degree related to Community Development, Urban Agriculture, Indigenous studies, or a combination of work experience in an anti-oppression/community development setting
- Experience supervising staff and contractors using a trauma-informed and equity-based approach
- Experience and knowledge of the needs of newcomers to develop and support newcomers in building community connections
- Demonstrate ability to manage projects independently and collaboratively; solid financial, funding, budgeting, reporting, and evaluation management skills
- Ability to work with Indigenous community member and Indigenous cultural competency
- Passionate about Indigenous food sovereignty, food justice, and local food systems
- Strong knowledge of growing plants in an urban environment
- Experience in working with marginalized groups, including vulnerable populations
- Skills in fostering an intercultural, intergenerational community through the lens of decolonization, anti-racist and equity principles
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, administrative, networking, leadership, and communication skills
- Attitudes and values aligned with the goals and philosophies of Collingwood Neighbourhood House
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Search
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19

**ASSETS**
- Valid BC drivers’ licence
- Food Safe and First Aid certification
- Web-based design skills
- Demonstrated interest, involvement and knowledge of Renfrew-Collingwood community resources, networks, and institutions
- Oral and written proficiency in additional language(s)

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $29.32 per hour
