Front Desk Attendant

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has an opening for a temporary part-time Front Desk Attendant in the Childcare, Early Year and Recreation division. This temporary opportunity is for a period up to January 2026.
**Job description**:
The Front Desk Attendant greets patrons and provides customer service to patrons entering or calling the facility.
**Essential responsibilities**:
- Demonstrate Chatham-Kent’s core values and competencies
- Front line reception/customer service
- Operate point of sale machine and balancing at the end of shift
- Assist with administrative duties as required
- Assist with program delivery as required
- General cleaning/maintenance tasks and assisting with opening and closing duties
- Utilize the PerfectMind database for program registrations, memberships and facility bookings
- Assist aquatic team in emergency situations as required
- Provide information regarding all recreation programs available
- Answer the telephone and direct the call to appropriate party
**Essential qualifications**:
- Secondary School Diploma, or equivalent education (e.g. GED certificate)
- Experience handling cash, including making change and balancing cash; experience using debit/credit card machine and cash register
- Experience with program registration and facility bookings
- Experience assisting with emergency situations
- Basic math skills
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills, written and verbal
- Working knowledge of PerfectMind (or other similar program)
- Basic computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) (or similar software program)
**Other qualifications**:
- Related post-secondary education an asset
- Experience with clerical/administrative and reception duties, including customer service skills, in an office environment an asset
- Experience working in an aquatic facility would be an asset
- General maintenance experience an asset
**Certifications, memberships, licenses**:
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR ‘C’ certificate that meets WSIB regulations
**Work environment/hours of work**:
- This position works mostly indoors
- This position will work evening and weekend hours
**COVID-19 Vaccination**
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent no longer requires a COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment. Although it is not mandatory to be vaccinated, it is highly encouraged.
**Driver’s license/vehicle requirements**:
Because this position would be required to travel, a valid Province of Ontario driver's license with a reliable motor vehicle is preferred.

- Sitting: constant sitting in a chair (computer duties, paper work, telephone, etc.))
- Standing: frequent standing inside (customers at a counter, waiting for pint jobs, etc.)
- Hands: frequent fine finger dexterity (movement), gripping, pinching, mousing (computer, mousing, scrolling, file/paperwork, telephone, copier, faxing, postage machine, etc.; stapling)
**Benefits**:
This temporary part-time position has an hourly wage of $17.20 and will receive vacation and statutory benefits in accordance with Employment Standards Act.
