We are currently looking for a full time Electrical Lead to join our Freeman Lumber Electrical Team. This role reports directly to the Electrical Supervisor and will be responsible for assisting the Electrical Supervisor in managing the day to day activities of the Electrical department as well as repairs and maintenance of the electrical, controls and optimization systems including:
- Mentoring and training of electrical staff in safety and electrical duties
- Leading Troubleshooting activities and Technical Projects
- Develop and follow up on status of work orders including preparing material list and tasks to be completed
- Installing and maintaining automated controls and hardware
- Maintaining existing PLC-based automated equipment
- Troubleshooting and repairing malfunctioning PLC-based automated equipment
- Troubleshooting plant networking issues
- Troubleshooting PLCs and associated processes
- Installing electrical and electronic controls on equipment
- Ability to work on plant power systems
- Participating in various activities including (but not limited to) equipment calibration, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance
- Understanding PLC logic, frequency drive-related issues, and other electrical/electronic-related concerns that will affect the mill
- Monitoring mechanical and electrical operating systems for proper performance, efficiency and make necessary parameter changes and adjustments
- Working closely with the Mechanics, Supervisors and Operations to ensure optimum utilization of mill equipment and systems
- Working with Planners to plan and execute PMs
- Performing all other duties as assigned

- Ensure compliance of safe work practices and health and safety policies and procedures
- Ability to understand and satisfactorily omplete WO's, PMs, and other tasks in a timely manner while following all Safety Requirements and Lock-Out Procedures
- Aptitude for diagnosing and correcting electrical/instrumentation problems
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair DC drives, AC inverters, PLC controls, and hardware
- Create and read complex electrical schematics and blueprints
- Ability to multi-task while working under pressure
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Team player
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office Programs
- Work with mínimal supervision
- The job will require working both inside and outside in various conditions including heat, cold, rain and snow
- Availability to work day shift, weekends and holidays as required
**Qualifications**:
- Possess diploma or equivalent experience: Journey Person Electrician (Industrial or Commercial)
- 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, sawmill experience preferred
- Previous experience as a Lead Hand/Supervisor would be considered an asset
- Demonstrated knowledge of:Distributed I/O and control networks (Controlnet, Ethernet, etc.)
- Electro-hydraulic and electro-pneumatic components
- Electronic components (such as Control and Instrumentation principles and function)
- Closed-loop servosystems (encoders, AC Drive, PLC, Servomotors, etc.)
- Allen Bradley (Logix Family) and Siemens PLC hardware and programming software (Rockwell RS Logix 500 and 5000, Step-7)
- HMI knowledge (Allen Bradley, Siemens)
- Servo Systems
