Relief Library Staff

**The Corporation of the County of Huron's Cultural Services - Library Department is seeking a Library Relief Staff**

This position is responsible for providing supply relief when regular staff are unavailable. Provides public library service to the community and surrounding area at a branch library by carrying out a variety of functions.

**Essential Functions and Responsibilities**:

- Serves library users at the circulation desk
- Introduces new members to the library and explains services. Maintains up-to-date and confidential membership records
- Checks books in and out
- Notifies patrons of the arrival of requested materials. Problem solves as required in the absence of the branch manager.
- Reference and Readers’ advisory services, including assisting patrons to find information in all formats.

**Minimum Job Requirements**:

- Preferred Education: 2-year Library Technician Diploma, Certificate in Small Library Management, or University Degree in a related field
- Experience: 1-year of experience working in the library field or equivalent
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Ability to troubleshoot new technologies
- Ability to be flexible on the job
- Proficiency in computer use
- Access to a reliable vehicle

**Wages**:

- $24.70 - $28.89 per hour; as per 2024 non-union pay grid
