**Laboratory Clerk, Zoonotic Diseases & Emerging Pathogens**

**What you’ll do**
- Perform data entry functions and general word processing such as inputting client information into relevant computerized systems, maintaining relevant registers, and typing from rough draft or general instruction, including correspondence, reports, and documents.
- Receive and process test requisitions, matching them with patient samples when required.
- Enter, search and retrieve information from computerized information systems as required.
- Enter test orders into computerized information systems in accordance with established procedures
- Perform clerical duties such as answering telephone calls and filing.
- Perform general record management duties such as assembling files, assigning file numbers, preparing file folders, and filing and distributing documents and files.
- Receive, record, sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, internal correspondence, and courier documents.
- Maintain inventory of department supplies as needed.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work area.

**What you bring**
- Grade 12.
- Two (2) years recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- You also have the ability to:_

Keyboard at 45 wpm.

Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Carry out the duties of the position.

Deal with others effectively.

Operate related equipment.

Organize work.

Demonstrate awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.

Commit to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).

Demonstrate knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
