MacLean Engineering is looking for a skilled and experienced** Mechanical Sub-Assembly Lead Hand **to join our growing aftermarket production team in **Barrie Ontario**. This is a great opportunity to be part of a small growing team, supplying aftermarket parts for heavy mobile mining equipment to various customers internationally, and to our other Ontario manufacturing plants. **About the Position**: The Mechanical Sub-Assembly Lead Hand is responsible for assisting the Supervisor with coordination of safety, quality, production, and employee requirements in assigned areas. This position will require proficient, correct, timely and safe execution of the following daily work tasks:
- Perform all duties of a Mechanical Sub-Assembler
- Assist mechanical assemblers with issues
- Ensure department priorities are met including safety, quality, production/delivery and other metrics as specified by Supervisor
- Assist Supervisor with coordinating production requirements including scheduling shifts, establishing priorities, communicating shortages, planning and confirming overtime and capacity assessment.
- Provide input to Supervisor regarding peers’ level of competence, performance and potential
- Ensure a safe working environment is provided in all areas of MEMCO through adherence to policies and processes, leading by example, formally identifying unsafe conditions and assisting Supervisor with taking action toward permanent corrective measures
- Ensure all equipment and tools are in safe operating condition
- Advise peers and other departments on trade-specific or technical knowledge as required
- Assist Supervisor to ensure all training requirements (internal and external) are met for peers
- Support Supervisor with 5S, Lean Manufacturing and organization initiatives and report on status and success of individuals and programs
- Assist Supervisor with troubleshooting within cross-functional groups (i.e. engineering, materials management, quality) as required
- Ensure peers adhere to company policies and procedures
- Use and maintain personal protective equipment, i.e. safety glasses, safety boots, ear plugs, etc., as required
- Associated trade experience or certification preferred
- Previous experience leading a team in manufacturing setting preferred
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Proficient with all tools and processes in Mechanical Sub-Assembly area
- Minimum five (5) years of related manufacturing experience
- Working knowledge of manufacturing machines and processes
- Leadership ability and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead, motivate and work well with others
