- Supporting Builders and Homeowners as they work through the claim process to completion of a submitted claim.
- Attention to detail is crucial
- Your knowledge and good judgment will deeply contribute to the adjustment of claims through the verification of policy coverage by assessing the presence of construction defects and liability for the same
- Ability to work well independently, as part of a team and under pressure
- Well-developed Customer Service and Listening Skills
- Organizational skills to provide a continuous flow of information and details
- Maintain comprehensive claim records, including observations, documentation, communications, decisions made, financial expenditures, and setting and maintaining adequate reserves
- Working with Developer/Builder and Homeowners to ensure appropriate resolution of a claim within the terms of the policy while satisfying all other partners including provincial regulators.
- Review and comment on estimates provided by vendors
- We are committed to ensure the best experience, including prompt payments to professionals and third party contractors, ensuring identification of possible recovery/subrogation opportunities and timely and accurate closing of claim files.
- Cultivate and maintain open communication with Underwriting and Technical Services to ensure proper risk management during the handling of claims and to improve future service the end customer and client (Homeowners and Builder/Developers).
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Highly efficient computer skills in Word, Outlook, and Excel is preferred.
- Process and verify accuracy of information and forms
- Responsible for drafting up letters and memos
- Participate in special events or private appointments that are outside of regular hours

**Qualifications**
- Practical experience within the development and/or residential construction industries is considered a benefit
- Office experience 2-3 years
- Data entry experience 2-3 years
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office particularly in Word and Excel

**Language**:

- Must be highly proficient of the English language, including written and oral communication
- Punjabi (Preferred, not required)
- Chinese (Preferred, not required)

The office hours are 8-4. All new employees will be expected to come into the office for training and supervision until a time where senior staff feel comfortable to allow a work-from-home* schedule. *Subject to change.

**Claims Handler Assistant Job Description**:
As an **Administrative Assistant** for a fast-growing New Home Warranty company, you will be responsible for several tasks and duties. You will also be responsible for providing administrative support to all Departments when required. You must be a quick learner and efficient in managing large amounts of information and paperwork in a timely manner. A high level of communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy is important for this role.

**Duties & Responsibilities**

Duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to the following tasks listed below:

- Provide administrative support to the different Departments when required
- Answer and direct phone calls/take messages
- Process and verify accuracy of information and forms
- Responsible for drafting up letters and memos
- Responsible for filing and data entry
- Responsible for preparing meetings and taking meeting minutes
- Responsible for arranging for courier and mail services
- Participate in special events or private appointments that are outside of regular hours

**Qualifications**

**Education, Knowledge & Experience**
- Office experience 2-4 years
- Data entry experience 2-4years
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office particularly in Word and Excel
- Second language such as Punjabi, Hindi, or Chinese is an asset but not required
