Applied Research uses a bottom-up, fundamental, long-term approach to investing, with a focus on fast
- growing companies that hold a leadership position in their field. We adhere to a strict investment philosophy, by only owning companies that meet our four key criteria. Companies we invest in must outgrow the market and their competitors, display robust barriers to entry and be led by capable management with a proven track record of creating value for shareholders. Valuation on an investment opportunity is assessed after our fundamental research in complete, and using our free cashflow-based financial modelling.

As a Junior Analyst, you will play a role in supporting the broader team with ongoing data, research and with basic administrative support. You will also have an important role responsible for account reconciliation, performance, and reporting. Reconciliation role includes;
1. Assisting in securities reconciliation
2. Assisting process analysis and re-engineering, system configuration and testing;
3. Responsible for ongoing data management;
4. Participating in the team responsible for supporting portfolio accounting, operations and reporting functions in Montreal in order to provide services to our local and global clients;
5. Ensuring that portfolio securities holdings and investor data is maintained in relevant systems in a timely and accurate manner;
6. Design and implementation of automated processes for portfolio and reporting;
7. Assisting in client on-boarding process for new clients;
8. Assisting in gathering client requirements and reporting;
9. Demonstrating keen awareness of industry and technology; and
10. Working with systems vendors and other third parties to resolve issues and developing bespoke client solutions and participate in defining project specifications and roll-out of re-engineered processes.

11. Assisting in filling out questionnaires from institutional investors using an internal FAQ document.

**Key Skills & Experience**:

- Work ethics and attention to detail
- Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, math, engineering, science, or other relevant field
- 1 - 3 years of experience
- CFA designation, or an interest in pursuing the CFA designation considered an asset
- A technical background with strong Microsoft Excel skills and coding skills or experience with other programing languages will be an asset but not required.
- Possess strong research and data analysis skills
- Strong mathematical skills required
- Demonstrated passion for research, and investment, data analysis
- Strong ability to communicate, verbally and written skills for reports
- Eager to learn, and be challenged on your ideas and thesis
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment; ability to multi-task and take on new responsibilities.
- Fund administration, trading experience or investment management back office preferred but not required.
- Fluency in English is required. Bilingual preferred.

**Salary and Benefits**

Salary will reflect qualifications and experience in investment management back office
Office located in downtown Montreal.
