- The Kamloops Food Policy Council is looking for an individual to support our organization with maintaining the operations and cleanliness of The Stir kitchen. This is a temporary, full-time position that will require 30 hours worked per week._

The Stir is to foster a thriving regional agriculture and food sector that is a significant contributor to the local economy in our region by connecting local entrepreneurs with the support they need to create, grow, and scale local food businesses. The Kitchen Helper will work closely with the

Kitchen Coordinator and Food Hub Manager to oversee operations and facilities in the shared commercial kitchen. They will also assist the Local Food Innovation Coordinator with the processing of fruit and vegetables from our Gleaning Abundance Program and Butler Urban
Farm

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Ensuring equipment and surfaces are properly cleaned between rentals according to food hub policies and procedures and documenting any issues or discrepancies;
- Performing routine checks and documentation of temperatures and chemical concentrations using test strips;
- Preparing and refilling soaps and sanitizing solutions and consumables as needed;
- Performing regular cleaning and maintenance duties;
- Providing janitorial services for common areas in The Stir Kitchen, The Stirfront, KFPC office, and outdoor space;
- Upholding a high-standard of food safety and documentation practices and modelling these practices for other entrepreneurs using The Stir Kitchen;
- Assisting with preparing and packaging processed food products for donation to community partner organizations or for sale in a social enterprise model to support
KFPC’s programs.
- Acting as an ambassador for The Stir to clients and assisting them with general questions about the facility.

**Work Environment**:

- This is a temporary (9 week), full-time position (30 hours per week). Anticipated start date is June 26th, 2023;
- The Kitchen Helper will generally work set shifts per week to ensure that regular cleaning duties and other deliverables are completed, however, the coordinator may work within a flexible averaging agreement with the approval of the Food Hub Manager and Kitchen
Coordinator;
- The coordinator will work in-person at The Stir Kitchen, 185 Royal Ave;
- The work will take place within a highly collaborative team environment with a distributed leadership model; and
- The salary for this position is set at $19.76 per hour

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- High School Diploma;
- Experience working in commercial kitchens;
- Food Safe certification would be an asset;
- Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills;
- Organized, self-directed and resourceful, good at problem solving; and
- Passionate about building a food system that is regenerative, sovereign and just.
