_**What’s An “Other Bird”?**_
The Other Bird is a hospitality family that includes _The Mule & Rapscallion & Co._(Hamilton, ON), _Burro _(Burlington, ON), _Hunter & Co. _(London, ON), _The Mule_ (Port Dover), and the boutique _Arlington Hotel & Dominion Telegraph Event Centre _(Paris, ON).

- **The Basic Gist**:_
You are the maker of deliciousness. You help bring smiles to people’s faces, tears to their eyes, and happiness to their bellies. You are the Chef de Cuisine at Burro, Burlington’s favourite lunch spot, dinner hang, and go-to destination for a great bite & satisfying drink. You manage Burro’s back-of-house team and you are responsible for Burro’’s day-to-day kitchen operations and ensuring every item on the menu is incredible. Most importantly, you love bacon in all its forms.
- **The Job**:_
- **Operations (or The Day-To-Day Stuff)**:_
- _**Be the boss**:_ Oversee daily BOH operations, including sales, purchasing, inventory, staffing, training, assistance in resolving customer issues, and general supervision.
- _**Stay in touch**:_ Liaise with other members of Burro’s management team on a regular basis to ensure management is always on the same page, and acts as a united front.
- _**Keep things yummy**:_ Develop, update & execute Burro’s food menu with the considerations of Burro’s General Manager, The Other Bird’s Executive Chef and Vice-President of Operations.
- _**Stock the fridge**:_ Ensure all product ordering is accurate and BOH inventory is complete on a weekly & monthly basis
- _**Set the calendar**:_ Ensure consistent scheduling in accordance with business needs.
- _**Mind the flock**:_ Participate in all staff hiring, reviews and disciplinary actions, in cooperation with Burro’s management team.
- _**Lead the flock**:_ Work as any BOH position as needed, and guide all staff in improving their working practices by leading by example.
- _**Meet the people**:_ Attend meetings, including Other Bird manager meetings, Burro manager meetings, and Burro general staff meetings
- _**Work with the family**:_ Be familiar with the management staff of all Other Bird outlets; collaborate on staffing, events and overall communication.
- _**Keep things running**:_ Monitor the general up-keep of Burro’s kitchen and assess and report any and all maintenance issues or repairs.
- _**Keep people healthy**:_ Ensure safe food handling practices are always followed.
- _**Follow the rules**:_ Ensure compliance with all health & safety regulations, and adherence to all legislation.
- **Business Management (or The Numbers)**:_
- _**Crunch the numbers**_ : Maintain comprehensive understanding of Burro’s BOH operations, and be confident in reporting financial and operational numbers to Burro’s General Manager.
- _**Crunch the numbers (again)**:_ Review monthly statements to ensure that all targets and goals are being met.
- **Help further crunch the numbers**:_ Communicate with the Other Bird bookkeepers and HR Manager to facilitate payroll and fiscal administration.
- **How Much Work & When**:_
- 40-44 hours per week
- Must be able to balance weekly schedule based on business needs.
- Must be able to adjust hours for administrative, social, or other needs outside normal business hours.

- **Ideally, You Have Experience / Education**:_
- 10+ years working experience in the hospitality industry, specifically working in restaurant kitchens is required.
- 5+ years management experience in the hospitality industry, specifically in restaurant kitchens is required.
- Corporate training and experience is an asset.
- Degree or diploma in Culinary Arts or Management is an asset.
