Swimming Instructors

**Skills**:

- Be a passionate teacher & aquatic adept **Good communicator**:

- **Bilingual (French & English)**:

- The ability to inspire confidence and motivate swimmers
- Perseverance and patience
- The ability to encourage people and put them at ease
- To plan and deliver lessons as per the Red Cross requirements **Ensure safe provision of all equipment and ensure it is used correctly**:

- Make sure safety standards are followed in sessions **Identify participants’ abilities and encourage them to reach their full potential**:

- Plan and deliver sessions appropriate to the level of swimmer **Provide explanations and demonstrate swimming techniques**:

- Correct faults in swimming techniques and identify ways to improve performance & technicalities
- To be a positive role model, creating a positive and fun environment in which to motivate and encourage children and adults to participate in swimming
- Set ground rules for each session **Evaluate sessions and give feedback during the midterm evaluations**:

- Thoroughly complete students’ report cards within the adequate deadlines
- Regularly assess each participant’s ability and progress and arrange for the award of the appropriate certificates
- To constantly update, manage and complete your evaluations **Organize and supervise assistants, interns and helpers as directed by the Swimming Coordinator & Pool Supervisor **To wear the proper uniform: one piece bathing suit & whistle **Work alongside the Swimming Coordinator, Pool Supervisor, other Swimming Teachers/Coaches, and Lifeguards etc. to help ensure that participants are able to swim in a safe environment and follow the pool rules.**:

- To attend two mandatory team meetings per year **To agree to abide by Vanier College’s Code of Conduct**

Required Certifications
- Swimming Instructor Certification (Swim for life) **Or PNCE**

**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual

Schedule:

- 4 hour shift
- 7 hour shift
- Day shifts (weekends)
- Evening shift

Work Location: In person
