incorporate their own teaching style to existing lesson plans by preparing and implementing various instructional strategies, techniques, and learning models to achieve specified learning outcomes and meet course objectives
- establish student performance objectives and evaluation methods and meet with students regularly to gauge and evaluate progress and identify and resolve problem areas in teaching and learning
- communicate effectively at a level appropriate to the ability of students and support an emotionally safe learning environment that is conducive to learning by maintaining appropriate classroom management following College policies and procedures
- actively participate in and contribute to accreditation activities to ensure the program is of the highest standard
- The instructional assignment will contain all courses in the Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician Plan of Training, including both theory and practical.
- You will also be required to prepare learner performance reports and prior learning assessments as required by the Department of Advanced Education, Skills, and Labour as well as other related duties consistent with maintaining quality student-centered instruction.

- demonstrateknowledge and experience in the Heavy-Duty Equipment industry
- have an understanding of the methods used to teach course concepts and manage the classroom environment
- have well-developed oral and written communication, analytical, conflict resolution and organizational skills
- be able to work independently but also collaboratively as a member of an instructional team while demonstrating a strong commitment to student success
- be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a classroom and shop setting with faculty, staff and students

The required knowledge and skills would normally have been acquired through:

- current Interprovincial Journeyperson Certification in Heavy Duty Equipment Technician and
- a minimum of six years combined apprenticeship training and recent trade specific industry experience
- Pre-employment Certification, Bachelor of Education (Secondary/Post-Secondary) Degree, teacher training, and experience teaching at a post-secondary level would be considered assets
- Operations or managerial experience in the industry is also considered an asset
- training in Desire2Learn and experience teaching in an online learning environment would also be considered assets.

**SALARY**: Commensurate with qualifications and experience in accordance with College of the North Atlantic Faculty Collective Agreement.
