**AGENCY SUMMARY**
Women’s Habitat is a multi-service feminist organization supporting women-identified individuals and their dependents impacted by intimate partner and familial violence and poverty. Women’s Habitat provides shelter and services to self-identified women and their dependents who are survivors of violence. Both the residential (opened in 1978) and outreach community services and programs (opened in 2006) offer a suite of trauma-informed VAW (Violence Against Women) services to support self-identified women and their dependents. The shelter is a harm reduction facility.

**JOB SUMMARY**
The primary responsibility of the Custodian is to ensure the overall cleanliness and sanitation of the Shelter and Outreach locations.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Clean and maintain the Shelter and Outreach locations.
- Perform cleaning of the Shelter including bedrooms, office, kitchen, living and dining areas, corridors and stairwells, 5 resident bathrooms and 2 common bathrooms.
- Performa cleaning of the Outreach location including offices, kitchen, 4 bathrooms, playroom, meeting rooms, corridors and stairwells.
- Clean floors and stairs by sweeping and dry/wet mopping. Mix cleaning solutions and use equipment including but not limited to mops, brooms and buffers.
- Vacuum and clean all carpeted areas using vacuum
- Move furniture to allow for access to areas for cleaning and/or set up areas for special functions
- Collect garbage, recycling and compost, empties bins, bags and carries outside. Treats for infestation, as necessary.
- Wash bins and garbage area for both locations as required.
- Report repairs as needed, maintenance performed, vandalism, etc. to supervisor as required.
- Dust window sills, cabinets, etc. as requested.
- Clean and store equipment and machinery used on shifts, such as buffers and accessories, mops, brooms, vacuums, steam cleaners, pails, etc.
- Clean/dust/wash furniture, cabinets, walls, equipment, appliances, radiators, tables, vents, chairs, windows, sills, ledges, storage areas, etc.
- Clean/wash/disinfect toilets, sinks, showers, bathtubs, shower rooms/curtains, dishes, mattresses, telephone, etc.
- Replenish paper towels, toilet paper, soaps, etc. as necessary
- Clean spots on walls and carpets
- Vacuum carpeted floor areas, ceiling corners, furniture as required
- Empty and clean wastebaskets and reline baskets
- Stock cleaning closets and maintain cleanliness of same
- Clean outside shelter location
- Remove snow and salt sidewalks, walkways and driveways if snow removal company has not arrived
- Maintenance of backyard at shelter
- Ensure health and safety guidelines are met
- Willing and able to take on other duties as assigned

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Minimum Grade 10 education
- At least one year experience as a commercial cleaner
- Ability to maintain discretion amongst residents and clients
- Capable of stay
