Food Safety QA/QC Technician
Job Summary:
As a Food Safety QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and quality of food products within our organization. Your responsibilities will encompass a range of tasks related to monitoring, inspecting, and maintaining quality standards throughout the food production process. The primary objective is to uphold regulatory compliance and guarantee that our food products meet or exceed industry quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
**Quality Control Inspections**:
- Conduct regular inspections of raw materials, in-process production, and finished goods to verify compliance with quality standards.
- Perform sensory evaluations and quality checks on food products to identify any deviations from established specifications.
**Documentation and Recordkeeping**:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of quality control tests, inspections, and any deviations observed during the production process.
- Generate and update documentation related to quality assurance procedures and protocols.
**Regulatory Compliance**:
- Stay informed about relevant food safety regulations and standards, ensuring that the organization adheres to local, state, and federal requirements.
- Assist in the preparation for and participation in regulatory audits and inspections.
**HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) Implementation**:
- Support the implementation and monitoring of HACCP principles throughout the production process to identify and control potential food safety hazards.
**Sampling and Testing**:
- Collect samples of raw materials and finished products for laboratory testing.
- Collaborate with the laboratory team to analyze samples for microbiological, chemical, and physical attributes.
**Supplier Quality Management**:
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the consistent quality of raw materials, conducting supplier audits as needed.
**Continuous Improvement**:
- Participate in the development and improvement of quality assurance procedures and protocols.
- Work with cross-functional teams to address and resolve quality issues and implement preventive measures.
**Training**:
- Provide training to production staff on quality control procedures and food safety practices.
- Foster a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement within the organization.
**Communication**:
- Communicate effectively with various departments, including production, procurement, and management, to address quality concerns and promote a proactive quality mindset.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in food quality assurance and control, preferably in a manufacturing or processing environment.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and standards.
- Familiarity with HACCP principles and implementation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
**Salary**: $42,740.00-$45,000.00 per year
