**Be a Census 2024 Enumerator, make your steps count**

The City of St. Albert is conducting a Municipal Census from May 6 to June 27, 2024, to gather population and demographic information. The census data helps the City identify upcoming needs in different areas as well as enhance existing programs and services. It provides essential information for planning transportation, schools, utilities, roads, emergency services, recreational facilities, and economic development. The results also help secure provincial and federal grants that are awarded based on population count and play an important role in supporting funding projects.

While the census will be conducted online, a door-to-door enumeration of the community will be required for those that could not complete the online census. The door-to-door enumeration will begin May 27, 2024, and finish on or before June 27, 2024.

**The Opportunity**

We are looking for friendly, motivated individuals who want to have an impact on the community. As an enumerator you will be responsible for canvassing on foot approximately 500 residential dwellings within a four-week period. Multiple visits and follow up calls to dwellings are often necessary. Successful applicants must be flexible to enumerate during daytime and evening hours to complete entire assigned district. Maps will be provided.

**Qualifications**
- Previous census experience as an enumerator, or door-to-door canvassing, is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills and friendly demeanor.
- Ability to read maps, speak and hear clearly, record information accurately,
- Basic iPad/computer skills. Comfort with learning and utilizing new software.
- Able to provide own transportation to sites.
- Personal cell phone is required to be in contact with your Census Area Supervisor.
- You must be available to attend a mandatory training session on May 13, 2024.
- Physically capable of a great deal of walking and climbing stairs.
- Able to work in inclement weather including rain or smoky conditions.
- Tactful and advanced customer service skills are an asset to achieve the challenging goal of full participation in the census.

**Hours of Work**

Enumeration: Days and evenings starting May 27 to June 27, 2024.

Enumeration hours will fall within 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays.

**Compensation**
- Enumerators can anticipate earning an estimated average of $1,000 to $1,200, which is dependent on the number of homes that complete the census online, the number of homes in the assigned enumeration area(s) and the number of residents enumerated.
- Bonuses for accurate targets achieved are available (more detail will be provided in your offer letter).
