**OPEN POSITION**

Our Railcars Maintenance shop located at
**9300 Boulevard Maurice Duplessis in Montreal** is looking for a RailCar Painter for its morning shift. Despite the fact that GATX will be providing all necessary training to safely and successfully carry out all essential tasks of this role, prior training and/or experience in Industrial Painting is required for this role.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following**:

- Cover car parts with the necessary materials needed to prevent paint from getting on portions of car
- Use various techniques and tools that include paint sprayers, hand brushes and paint rolling stock to paint cars
- Assembles and dismantles painting tools and makes required adjustments as needed
- Mixes paint to the proper consistency for pouncing or spraying
- Prepares and applies decals as required
- Changes tips on spray guns to attain specific spraying pattern
- Mixes paint with the thinner solution according to the formula
- Performs tests (viscosity, thickness) and evaluations for the acceptance or rejection of a coating according to the procedures in place and report the results of these tests and evaluations in due form in the GATX computer system
- Hooks up warm air ducts to car and starts furnace to cure newly applied lining as specified
- Keeps work area in a clean and orderly manner Comply with established safety policies, support continuing awareness for safety and when possible recommend changes and improvements to health and safety policies and programs

**DUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (including certifications)**
- At least a High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Experience in Industrial painting acquired through formal training or prior work experience
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as repair manuals, instructions, work orders, ect...
- Ability to work effectively individually and/or in groups
- Initiative: Have a personal motivation and autonomy to determine and carry out important tasks
- Diligence and reliability at work: be able to complete all hours of work, rarely absent and be able to complete all assigned tasks at a reasonable period of time
