**Metabolomics Technician**

**Position for a Metabolomics Technician**

**Description of Duties**:

- Perform sample preparation for extraction of metabolites and lipids in cells, culture media, tissues, biofluids, stool, intestinal content and plant material using protein precipitation, liquid-liquid extraction and solid-phase extraction, with or without pre-analytical chemical derivatization, in a highly quantitative manner.
- Carry out suitability tests and quality control of metabolomics assays and maintenance of LC-MS instruments on a regular basis.
- Run LC-MS systems for precise and accurate quantitation of metabolites, lipids and other molecules in biological and environmental samples for metabolomics service projects in a highly diligent way.
- Assist in optimization of sample preparation and chemical derivatization procedures as well as validation of new metabolomics assays for research projects.
- Process and analyze LC-MS and LC-MS/MS data using mass spectrometry software packages and other tools in a timely manner.

**Requirements**:

- BSc or MSc degree in biochemistry, chemistry or a related science
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, with good patience, care and sense of responsibility

- Prior hands-on experience in quantitative analysis, an analytical laboratory and/or a good understanding of the mechanisms and practice of chromatography, mass spectrometry and related sample preparation techniques would be a benefit.

- Flexible time schedule and after-hours work occasionally needed.
