We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Pilot Truck/Hot Shot Driver to join our team. The Pilot Truck/Hot Shot Driver will play a crucial role in supporting the safe transportation of oversized or over-dimensional loads by guiding and assisting the main truck driver in navigating through challenging routes. This position requires a strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with the transport team to ensure the successful and secure delivery of cargo.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Route Planning and Navigation**: Work closely with the main truck driver to plan the safest and most efficient route, considering the size and weight of the load, road conditions, and any potential obstacles.
- **Communication**: Maintain constant communication with the main driver via two-way radio or other communication devices to provide real-time updates on road conditions and any potential hazards.
- **Traffic Control**: Safely control and direct traffic when necessary to facilitate the movement of the oversized load through intersections, bridges, and other tight spaces.
- **Load Inspection**: Prior to departure, inspect the load to ensure it is properly secured and compliant with all relevant regulations. Report any issues to the main driver.
- **Safety Compliance**: Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations related to oversize load transportation, including obtaining the necessary permits and clearances.
- **Emergency Response**: Be prepared to respond to emergency situations, such as accidents or breakdowns, and assist the main driver and emergency services as needed.
- **Maintenance**: Conduct routine inspections of the pilot vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition. Report any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
- **Documentation**: Maintain accurate records, including driver logs, mileage, and expenses, and submit them in a timely manner.
- **Customer Service**: Interact professionally with clients, law enforcement, and other parties encountered during the journey, representing the company in a positive manner.

**Skills/Requirements**:

- Must have experience with escorting over dimensional loads.
- Drivers with experience pulling gooseneck trailers and load securement is an asset
- Must have a **clean** Class 5 Drivers License **(Not GDL)**:

- Previous experience as a pilot truck driver is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of traffic laws, regulations, and safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with the main driver and other team members.
- Physical fitness and the ability to lift and secure heavy loads.
- Proficiency in operating communication devices and GPS systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing road conditions.

**Salary**: $23.00-$27.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Holidays
- Monday to Friday
- On call

- Weekends as needed

**Experience**:

- Pilot Truck Driver: 1 year (preferred)
- Escorting over dimensional loads: 1 year (preferred)
- pulling gooseneck trailers: 2 years (preferred)
- load securement: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Class 5 licence (preferred)
- Class 3 Licence (preferred)

Willingness to travel:

- 75% (preferred)
