Reporting to the Administrator, the IPAC Manager position is a is a critical role with overall accountability for the management and leadership of infection prevention and control.

**As part of our team, your role as an IPAC Manager contributes to our resident experiences in the following ways**:

- Planning, coordinating, directing and monitoring effectiveness of all infection prevention and control activities within the home, ensuring those activities are aligned to the home’s strategic plan, mission and values.
- Ensures compliance with all relevant legislation including but not limited to: Ministry Acts, regulations, policies and procedures, directives, and collective agreements.
- Provides leadership and direction in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders for all activities related to infection prevention and control with a focus to continuously improve infection prevention and control practices throughout the home and with employees, visitors, family members and residents.
- Supports recruitment, orientation, performance management, training, education and other people related functions within the nursing department. Leads the IPAC Committee and the Occupational Health and Safety Program, specific to Infection Prevention and Control, the Resident and Employee Vaccination Programs, Outbreak Investigations and Meetings and participates in other committee meetings as required.
- Identifies risks associated with infection prevention and control and creates/implements strategies to mitigate the risks.
- Fosters effective interpersonal relationships between residents, families and other interdisciplinary health team members in relation to IPAC practices and requirements. Provides ongoing leadership with education related to infection prevention and control, mentors and develops staff members with respect to IPAC practices.
- Conducts assigned audits and assessments and tracks IPAC metrics for the home. Develops, implements and evaluates IPAC strategies inclusive of outbreak management and investigation, provision of IPAC education, completion of IPAC risk assessments and audits, etc.
- Acts as the Infection Prevention and Control Lead for the home.
- Participates with the interdisciplinary team and in strategic planning for the home, with a focus on IPAC.
- Coordinates the Tuberculosis Screening Protocol for residents, monitors the tracking of Cold Chain and orders vaccines as required.
- Works in accordance with the organization's Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the provincial College of Nurses.
- Current certification in Infection Control from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology or working towards successful completion of the certification.
- Must have a minimum of two to three year’s working experience as a Registered Nurse in a managerial or supervisor capacity in a healthcare setting, preferably long-term care with a focus on infection control.
- Sound knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Homes Act 2007, Ontario Regulations 79/10.
- Must posses excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong relationship building abilities and organizing skills with the ability to lead and influence others.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Point Click Care and other computerized documentation systems.
- All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector check.
- Have a passion to promote person-centered care and work with the senior population.
