It is a growing city, with exciting culinary experiences, sheltered waterways for boating and ice fishing, fun festivals and entertainment, beautiful trails and golf courses, a popular farmer’s market, unique shops and services, as well as popular big box and large-scale retail.Belleville General Hospital is the largest of Quinte Health’s hospitals, with two medicine units, critical care (ICU), a lively emergency department, a wide range of surgical and diagnostic services, a busy maternal child unit, a children’s treatment centre, inpatient and outpatient stroke and rehabilitation care, inpatient and outpatient mental health services, and the regional Dr. Douglas A. MacIntosh Cancer Clinic. BGH works closely with the other three Quinte Health hospital teams, as well as regional and provincial health centres to serve our communities.Working at Belleville General Hospital provides countless opportunities for growth and experiential learning. Required
- Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Completion of Coronary Care 1 or equivalent (ex. QHC Cardio Concepts) or able obtain within 6 months.
- Current CPR or BCLS certificate.
- Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload. (Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) available to review)
Duties
- Provision of care for patients within an interproffessional environment, including assessment, treatment, teaching and education
- Performs acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills and judgement necessary for care of acute medical patients.
- Teaching and coaching to patients and families
- Maintains nursing records in accordance with College of Nurses Standards.
- Practicing in compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policy and procedures, professional regulatory standards and best practices within the nursing profession
- Maintaining professional competence by completing regular professional development including annul training and education as indicated
- Participates in unit/dept. and hospital quality improvement initiatives
- Adheres to a safe and healthy workplace and maintains a safe and healthy work environment through attendance at educational programs, use of established mechanisms for injuries and hazards and adheres to health and safety related policy and procedures
- Adapts and adheres to the values of Quinte Health while promoting and advocating for an enhanced patient experience
- Other duties as assigned.
