Academic Support Assistant

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Academic Support Officer, this position is responsible for a range of duties that support the effective and efficient administrative operations of the Engineering Academic Support and Associate Dean’s offices.
These duties include, but are not limited to, receiving and responding to a high volume of student, instructor, and administrative internal inquiries, author-send-and-receive letters for Associate and Assistant Deans, preparation of meeting materials for the Associate Deans’ Committee/Board(s), filing Associate Deans’ correspondence and decisions to students, faculty, campus departments, etc., as well as providing guidance to students on academic matters, and administrative support to administrative workflows and processes requiring Associate Dean review and/or decision.
**Qualifications**:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
- Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills to support various individuals with the ability to effectively determine priorities.
- Strong Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and common web-based tools.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
- Tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
- Ability to interact successfully with academic administration and faculty;
- There may be significant time constraints that create the need for a flexible schedule during certain time periods.
- A strong customer service focus.
- Demonstrated ability working with a diverse student body.
- Ability to adapt to change.
**Education and Experience**:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
- Completion of a university degree.
- Three years of related experience in a university academic administration environment, preferably in Engineering. Must include relevant experience in advising students regarding University regulations and procedures.
