Youth Services Worker

The Youth Services Summer Student would have the opportunity to staff the One Roof Drop in for 17.5 hours a week and work 17.5 hours a week at RISE, our supportive housing facility for youth for 16 weeks. This student under the supervision of the One Roof Supervisor, Supportive Housing Coordinator, and program and admin assistants would have a chance to help supervise and run recreational programming for youth aged 16-24.
Hours of work per week: 35
Pay Rate: $18/hour
This job would involve many things including but not limited to the following:
- Screening for COVID-19 and assisting to conduct COVID-19 Rapid Tests for patrons at the door
- Connecting and referring youth to internal and external community partners
- Running recreational programming (sports, board games, video games, movie nights etc)
- Compiling program statistics
- Maintaining the safety and security of all clients and staff in the drop-in
- Reminding youth of their scheduled appointments
- Cooking meals with youth
- Ensuring the drop-in space is clean and functional
- Designing programs for youth
- Completing intakes and helping to coordinate measurement-based care initiatives
- Answering phones and transferring to appropriate individuals
- Fundraising

Client service - Client Service refers to the ability to communicate efficiently and professionally with clients. At work, client service skills are required to interact with clients on behalf of the employer.

Communication - Communication refers to the skills needed to exchange thoughts and information with other people.
This exchange can happen orally by speaking, listening and using non-verbal cues, such as body language or in writing.
At work, people use communication skills to talk to customers, discuss products with suppliers, explain work procedures to co-workers, participate in virtual sales meetings with clients, and other activities that involve verbal or written exchanges.
Leadership - Leadership refers to a number of skills, including communication, relationship building, and the ability to delegate and traits such as honesty. At work, leadership skills are required when working in a team, demonstrating initiative, and taking responsibility for the completion of tasks that require multiple employees.
