Primary Duties
The Project Advisor - Risk & Research is responsible for delivering, monitoring, and advancing the maturity of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) programs for Utilities Kingston and Kingston Hydro. The position will advise and support the Manager, Sustainability & Climate Action in identifying and managing the most critical risks that represent opportunity and loss to the success of the organization’s business objectives.

The incumbent will develop, lead, and deliver projects related to Utilities Kingston’s climate action leadership goals and strategies. They will be responsible for ongoing support in fostering innovation, advancing opportunities for research and partnerships, and ensuring value is added by these activities for the organization with industry and academia. The incumbent will establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of management and front-line staff and support the integration of enterprise risk-based decision making and strategic thinking across the organization.

**Major Responsibilities**:
1. Responsible for developing, executing and maintaining the Utilities Kingston and Kingston Hydro ERM programs in accordance with relevant standards, guidelines, and industry best practices.
2. Coordinate the development and definition of ERM program goals and objectives with ERM stakeholders to achieve the desired performance across the organization.
3. Coordinate the development and lead the implementation of a new ERM software solution.
4. Provide advice to the Manager, Sustainability & Climate Action with regards to new or innovative technologies for the organization to reach its strategic climate action goals.
5. Develop, lead, and manage risk and research related projects, contracts, and consultant services in accordance with project management best practices, including managing stakeholders and change management to achieve desired scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
6. Identify and recommend appropriate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to analyze and report on enterprise risks and the performance of ERM programs.
7. Lead ERM throughout the organization and deliver training and education programs.
8. Prepare ERM documents and presentations for the organization and support the Manager, Sustainability & Climate Action in reporting to the Audit and Risk Committees.
9. Maintain, develop, and implement, within the proper approval process, standardized policies, procedures and programs to support ERM activities.
10. Assist ERM stakeholders with their performance of retrospective enterprise risk evaluations and provide guidance on continuous improvement recommendations.
11. Provide advice and guidance to departments in their risk analysis including program & project risks, support the establishment of standardized processes for risk management, and provide guidance on continuous improvement recommendations.
12. Develop and maintain a research and innovation plan for the organization that identifies, prioritizes, and pursues opportunities or strategies to build partnerships in alignment with corporate strategic priorities.
13. Act as the primary contact for academic institutions and industry partners seeking an engagement to partner on innovative projects.
15. Maintain up to date program and project records using conventional and consistent filing methodologies.
Education, Certification and Other Qualifications Required

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Advanced written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively write reports and deliver presentations to stakeholders
- Advanced analytical and research skills
- Intermediate people management skills with the ability to lead a project team
