Vanco Farms Ltd. specializes in growing specialty potatoes, organic potatoes, premium cut tulips, and tulip bulbs. The farm is family owned and operated, and we proudly grow our products in the signature red soil of Prince Edward Island.
Position Summary
Position Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections of potato fields to assess crop health, growth, and development.
- Implement and manage soil sampling, fertility programs, and pest/disease control measures.
- Collect and analyze data on crop performance, soil conditions, and environmental factors to inform decision-making.
- Maintain accurate records of field activities, inputs, and crop performance.
- Work closely with farm management and other team members to develop and implement agronomic strategies and practices.
- Stay informed about the latest agronomic research and technologies; recommend improvements or new practices as appropriate.
**Qualifications**:
Education Preference: Associate’s degree in Agronomy, Soil Science, Agriculture, or a related field.
Experience: 1-3 years of experience in agronomy or a related agricultural field; experience with potato farming is a plus.
Skills: Strong analytical skills, proficiency in data analysis software, and knowledge of crop management practices.
Physical Requirements: Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 40 pounds.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Pay: $40.00-$60.00 per hour
