Aboriginal Mother Centre Society (AMCS) Daycare is a Licensed Daycare that provides the Aboriginal Head Start Program for 25 children aged 3-5 years old. AMCS also provides Transformational Housing and other supports for single, Aboriginal mothers in Vancouver.

**Job Summary**:

- Collaborate with other educators or administrators to develop, evaluate, or revise daily activities that support and promote the development of children;
- Organize children for daily activities, including outdoor activities and field trips.
- Prepare reports on students and activities as required by the administration.
- Confer with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, or other professionals to develop individual education plans (IEPs).
- Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
- Attend to children's basic needs by assisting in feeding, dressing, or changing their diapers.
- Be supportive in a team player environment including daily opening, and closing of the center, shift rotations, planning of and implementing of daily programming and activities.
- Attend meetings and workshops to develop and discuss new teaching methods and Aboriginal culture/tradition.

**Qualifications**:

- Basic BC ECE license
- First aid certification
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with children, families, and other educators.
- Knowledge of child-care development, guidance and discipline, routines, and transitions
- Ability to work in a unique program that challenges and stimulates ongoing learning through daily examination of best practices.
- Respect the diverse Aboriginal cultures/traditions and reflect them to plan the daily activities, circle, and environment.
- Strong work ethic and self-motivated individual who has initiative
- Punctuality and Flexibility for work shifts

**Salary**: $25.00-$27.00 per hour
