**Job Summary**:
The Street Outreach Worker connects with youth referred to the Youth Resource Centre in the community, at schools, at their homes and ensures basic needs are met. The Worker provides assessment, planning and supportive interventions for youth clients moving youth from street entrenchment and homelessness to connection or reconnection with community and family. The Worker aids clients in establishing and achieving realistic goals; identifying, understanding and overcoming personal/family problems, reducing risk behaviors, building necessary pro-social, conflict management and life skills, transitioning to independence, or other relevant services. The Worker advocates on behalf of clients and collaborates closely with other service providers. Given current trends, it is expected that clients will primarily be female and at high risk of sexual exploitation.

**Your Role**:
Archway’s Street Outreach Worker with the Youth Resource Centre contributes by:

- Ensuring youth’s basic needs are met (food, shelter, medical attention).
- Supporting youth as they attempt to leave street involvement or support the youth and family to maintain the youth in the family home.
- Working with clients “where they are” to provide relevant meaningful change opportunities in their homes, on the street or in the Youth Resource Centre.
- Working with youth to recognize risks and developing safety plans to mitigate risks with the goal of decreasing risk behaviours and increasing resiliency.
- Assessing and developing service plans and interventions in collaboration with clients. Evaluating the effectiveness of the service plan and progressing towards goals.
- Acting as an advocate and actively linking with community service providers as well as the business community, faith communities, schools and neighborhoods to build positive connections for youth.

**Getting an Interview - you will be considered if you have**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a related field, or a diploma in a related field and 2 years’ experience.
- Experience providing services through a trauma informed and client-centered lens.
- Experience working with youth with high-risk behaviors, preferably in an outreach capacity.
- Knowledge of youth sexual exploitation, substance use and mental health concerns
- Knowledge of indigenous culture an asset.

**The Job Requires you to have**:

- Strong relationship building skills, able to build rapport and work with youth with high-risk behaviours.
- Strong crisis management skills, able to work effectively during crisis.
- Good organization, time and general management skills.
- Verbal and written communication skills, and active listening skills, able to communicate respectfully, clearly, and effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.
- Strong knowledge of government and community-based programs and related provincial and community support systems.
- Excellent networking skills
- A satisfactory criminal record check is a condition of employment.
- A Class 5 BC Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
- A current first aid certificate is a condition of employment.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 7 months

**Salary**: $26.00-$28.00 per hour
