The Physical Rehabilitation Therapist/Thérapeute en Réadaptation Physique (PRT/TRP) is a member of the multi-disciplinary team who provides clinical and non-clinical rehabilitation services to the clients of KMHC, and is guided by professional standards of practice. The PRT provides services that reflect the objectives of the department including prevention, improvement, adaptation and healing.
- Conducts initial and outgoing data collection using professional procedures and techniques to evaluate client progress and effectiveness of care
- Compiles and analyzes information using scientific methods and sound professional knowledge
- Ensures charting, including initial assessment and progress notes for all interventions are completed in a timely manner
- Orders equipment for client through Health and Welfare Canada and/or Medicare (walkers, canes, etc.)
- Performs data collection for inpatient and Day Centre clients, sets up and delegates the implementation of treatment programs to the Rehabilitation Assistant, as appropriate
- Discharges the client or refers them back to their physician and/or health care professional or service
- ROM, stretching and strengthening and functional exercise program for clients requiring active therapy intervention
- Follow up treatment program for clients with chronic problems
- Fitting clients with walkers and ensuring their proper use
- Encourages and assists with ambulation
- Encourages clients to maintain and/or increase their level of ambulation
- Help set up and supervise clients when Physiotherapist is occupied or absent
- Provide the Physiotherapist with observations and feedback pertaining to any changes noted in the client especially changes in physical, cognitive status, abilities, level of independence, etc.
- Work with clients on the Neurogym equipment as appropriate
- Trained and use of modalities (ultra-sound, interferential etc.)
- Active participant in the Falls Prevention program
- Regularly evaluates, modifies and adapts the treatment program as the client’s needs change
- Supervises and monitors case progress
- Consults and educates the client about the problem(s), treatment(s), available maintenance and preventive measure
- Adapts program to meet the client’s needs
- Follows the established treatment plan in accordance to departmental procedures
- Implements a treatment program to be followed by the client, family, Rehabilitation Assistant and/or any other person involved
- Prepares treatment, exercise and educational material for the client

**Salary**: $28.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
