**Purpose**

The Manager, Executive Planning works closely with the Senior Manager and Director to support the execution of the Leadership strategy and programs related to Executive Planning and Committees. Contributes to the overall success of Executive Leadership Development / Leadership globally, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

In this role, you will be responsible for strengthening the Bank’s leadership capabilities by supporting the advancement of Leadership priorities. In addition, you will also be responsible for managing and coordinating the annual planning and record-keeping for the Human Capital Committee (HCC) and preparing communications and reports to enable executives and Board members to gain insights about our talent. This responsibility entails meticulous preparation of executive-ready materials delivered under tight deadlines.

**Key Accountabilities**
- Champions a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Supports the leadership development strategy, executing applicable executive planning and talent development initiatives
- Oversees and manages the planning for applicable Executive Committees
- Builds and manages the annual calendar and coordinates the review cycle for the Human Capital Committee (HCC) and Human Capital and Compensation Committee of the Board (HCOB)
- Coordinates with Total Rewards the planning for the review cycle for HCOB for Leadership initiatives
- Manages the posting/submission of materials to the respective stakeholders and committees
- Creates leadership profiles and bios to support Board of Director meetings
- Implements efficiencies to streamline existing processes for committee deliverables
- Manages and controls the Access and Record Management of the Leadership Executive Committees
- Manages access management on Diligent for Leadership
- Periodically performs audits on user access for Diligent, Restricted Shared Folders and collaboration tools, taking immediate action to address discrepancies, ensuring the integrity of confidential information
- Organizes, classify and, when applicable, archives records regarding Executive Committees and Executive Leadership Development in general, stored in all applicable channels
- Leads the annual review of the Executive Mandates
- Builds the project plan and all necessary communications to stakeholders
- Performs an initial assessment of the mandates, ensuring they are grammatically correct, consistent and reflect current authority limits and organizational structures
- Partners with stakeholders on the review and update of the applicable accountabilities
- Consolidates changes to mandates for the annual review at the Board and their approval
- Manages ad-hoc amendments to executive mandates, preparing for Board approval as required
- Stay abreast of best practices regarding succession plans and executive development, seeking to improve internal processes:

- Stays up to date with the latest trends and best practices in leadership development, executive coaching, and succession planning to advance the Bank’s leadership agenda
- Conducts research and benchmarking to identify innovative approaches and techniques that can be applied within the organization
- Supports succession planning efforts for key leadership positions
- Partner with the Senior Manager and the Director on ad hoc requests and strategic projects to drive leadership agenda across the enterprise
- As required, provide communication support, including (but not limited to): research, writing, editing, planning, and measurement of key messages, presentations, speaking notes, and other requests
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

**Experience / Education**:

- Minimum of 5 years of relevant HR experience. Experience in leadership development or talent management roles is an asset
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, or a related field
