We are currently looking for a Pipefitting Foreperson to join our team at our Oakridge District Energy Project, in Vancouver. This is a full-time, site-based position.

Shift options are: 4-12s, 5-10s, or 4-12s (M-T) + 8 or 10 on Friday.

Reporting to the Project Manager or Mechanical Superintendent, the Pipefitting Foreperson will:

- Manage, train and work alongside a medium to large crew of Lead hands, Journeyperson’s and Apprentices
- Lead by example. Be able to multi-task, plan, teach and work alongside their crew
- Perform the duties of a Red Seal Pipefitter
- Be reliable and punctual - arriving for work and ready to go 30 minutes before the start of the day and staying to the end of the day 30 minutes past ensuring they are prepared and organized.
- Have a positive attitude with the ability to lead and train.
- Have the ability to problem solve, make decisions and move forward with the task or tasks and knows when to involve their Superintendent and Project Manager.
- Be able to take direction from their Superintendent and respond positively to constructive criticism
- Have the ability to admit when they make mistakes, own it and grow from the lessoned learned
- Have an above average understanding of the B31.1 and B31.3
- Have a complete understanding of all the required drawings on their project
- Must be able to translate the drawings/specifications into a usable format for the Lead hand/RSP’s
- Direct and monitor sub-trade works to ensure the installation is in line with the project documents.
- Complete a 14 day look ahead for manpower and material for their task or tasks. Responsible for developing the strategy that will be used to attack project schedule
- Clearly communicate to other trades working around the task or tasks
- Work with Project Managers and Mechanical Superintendent to enforce the project specific health and safety policy.
- Must be capable of identifying safety hazards and be capable of implementing the safety plan required to mitigate or remove the hazard from the equation.
- Work with Project Managers and Mechanical Superintendent to enforce the project specific QAQC program.
- Monitor and report on site installation to ensure activities are in line with the project schedule, adjusting the team and/or tasks as required
- Ensure that fabrications delivered from the shop are installed into their correct location ASAP so as to limit jobsite clutter.
- Must be capable of understanding the correct formats in which to communicate.
- Have strong understanding of submittal packages

- Able to withstand high-stress and the fast-paced environment on a construction site.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to use Bluebeam and Autodesk would be an asset.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Education and Experience
- A minimum 6 years in the mechanical construction industry.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with personnel of other departments.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing and orally.
- Formal training in construction management would be an asset.
- Ability to use Bluebeam, AutoDesk products and/or NavisWorks would be an asset.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office products.
- Be able to adapt to new systems as they come into practice
- General understanding of all types of plumbing, pipefitting and mechanical systems
