**What you can expect from this position**:
Reporting to the Manager, Land Use Planning, this position provides supervision, coordination of work, training, leadership, guidance, coaching and mentoring to the team to effectively achieve objectives.

**As Supervisor, Land Use Planning, you will**:

- Provides technical expertise in the development of airport-related policies for municipal and regional official plans and by-laws, federal and provincial guidelines
- Assists in development of Airport Master Plans, GTAA’s Strategic Plan and other specific corporate and departmental initiatives
- Provides guidance and training to new Land Use staff members, consultants, and other GTAA staff in area of land use control
- Coordinates Airport Land Use Plan (ALUP) amendment consultations and prepares ALUP amendment submissions
- Supports the GTAA’s input formulation for government policy development and periodic reviews in order to protect the current operations, land use control interests and airport’s future development plans
- Leads GTAA’s 5-year reviews and updates of regional and municipal official plans
- Coordinates activities for the planning, design, development, and preparation of periodic Airport Master Plans’ Land Use section and Airport Land Use Plan (LUP) and its amendments
- Coordinates land use planning reviews and analysis in collaboration with NAV CANADA to provide a consolidated submission process
- Lead review/preparation of reports, development concepts, and public consultation material in support of various planning projects
- Leads LU collaboration with GTAA partners, municipal planning staff, outside proponents, and other partners including regional, provincial and federal government departments to address issues related to proposed developments

**This is the role for you, if you have**:

- Post secondary degree in Urban and Regional Planning, or a combination of education and experience resulting in a specialization in airport planning, design, or detailed knowledge of municipal land use control and development approval processes
- Registered Professional Planner (RPP), Member of Canadian Institute of Planners (MCIP) designations are required
- Ability to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position

**Knowledge and skills you bring, that set-you up for success**:

- Knowledge of provincial and municipal land use planning processes, principles of land use control, and workflows of development approval
- Knowledge of regulations and guidelines affecting land use in the vicinity of airports
- Ability to organize and lead consultations with all level of government for approval of airport development plans
- Knowledge of aircraft noise impact standards and guidelines relative to land use control
- Well-developed technical research skills
- Knowledge of the consultant/contractor procurement process (e.g. RFP preparation, Proposal evaluation, contract tendering, budgeting)
- Ability to develop terms of reference, scope of work, RFPs for work assignments and review detailed consultant work programs
- Ability to work effectively in teams of varying size and composition and with a high degree of tact
- Expertise in technical report writing and making presentations to groups which include professionals from different fields (planners, engineers, lawyers)
- Skills to communicate and build strong working relationships
- Knowledge of the government jurisdictional roles and responsibilities for planning/design, delivery and operation of transportation infrastructure in Ontario, including key agencies and inter-agency relationships
- Ability and experience in delivering well organized reports of project/task findings and recommendations
- Knowledge of the GTAA organization including general directive, role, and governance structure
