The London Children’s Museum is looking for a creative, fun, and enthusiastic Visitor Experience Animator (VEA) to join our team this summer. Working with the Visitor Experiences staff, the VEA will contribute to developing and delivering outstanding child and family-centred learning experiences, events, and daily museum public programming. **Position**: Hourly contract position averaging 35.5 hours per week from May 13, 2024 - September 1, 2024
**Compensation**: $17/hour
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Provide exceptional visitor experience and customer service to all Children’s Museum visitors
- Plan and deliver high-quality, fun, and engaging activities including daily public programming, special events and birthday parties
- Provide public daily interactions with items from the London Children’s Museum's 7,000-piece collection
- Plan and deliver daily public programming on topics of culture, heritage, art and science
- Contribute to the daily upkeep of museum galleries and exhibits
- Plan and deliver outdoor Learning Garden programs
- Assist with day camp as needed
- Participate in community outreach programs as needed
- Deliver onsite Ontario curriculum-connected education programs as needed
- Be a helpful, positive, and engaged member of the London Children’s Museum staff team
- Accept all other duties as required
**Skills**:
- Enthusiasm for hands-on, experiential learning
- Demonstrated experience and interest in planning and facilitating family-centred programming in a museum setting
- Specific interest or expertise in the area(s) of heritage, art, history, culture and/or education
- Previous experience working with children and families
- Desire to work in a distinctly child and family-centred environment
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work both independently and within a team
- Outdoor education/gardening experience is an asset
- Strong verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
**Position Requirements**:
- Child & Infant First Aid and CPR training considered an asset
- Must pass criminal record and vulnerable persons screening
- Between the ages of 16 and 30 years of age at start of employment (By May 13)
- Was registered as a high school, college, CEGEP or university student (as defined by their educational institution) in the semester preceding the work assignment
- Intends to return to studies during or after the work assignment
- Willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment (May 13 - September 1)
- Not employed in another full-time position (over 30 hours/week)
- Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or a person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the immigration and refugee protection act
- Legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial legislation and regulations
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and some evenings
**Education**:
Enrolled in post-secondary education. Ideal for students looking to work in primary/elementary education, museum or heritage studies, child development, or early childhood education.

Contract length: 16 weeks
**Salary**: $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35.5 per week
