**TransCare® Community Support Services is a charitable not-for-profit corporation dedicated to providing home and community support services for people who need assistance due to illness, convalescence, disability, or functional limitations related to aging. We offer a continuum of services to facilitate independent living, comfortably and safely in the clients’ homes, and in the community.**

**Position Overview**:
Using the agency vehicle, the driver is responsible for providing safe and reliable transportation services to and from medical appointments, Day Programs, grocery shopping, delivery of meals, and other essential purposes.

**Primary Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Provide seniors and adults with disabilities rides to medical appointments such as physio therapy, dialysis treatments as well as other essential appointments.
- Transport clients to Community Dinning and the Adult Day Programs.
- Coordinate all trips through the TransCare® Transportation Coordinator.
- Be punctual and dependable in picking up the client at the scheduled time.
- Provide assistance to clients in and out of vehicle/their homes, when necessary.
- Deliver meals to community clients in a timely manner and complete client safety checks
- Maintain confidentiality regarding client information in accordance to the Privacy Act.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and ensure regular vehicle maintenance for client safety.
- Immediately report incidents, accidents or client health concerns to the Transportation

Supervisor.
- Handling mobility devices, including opening and closing walkers and wheelchairs and lifting equipment into cars.
- Inform the Transportation Coordinator of any changes in address or phone number.
- Read the TransCare® Employee Handbook and become familiar with program policies and procedures.

**Job Specifications**:

- Minimum 3 years of passenger/driving experience
- Valid driver’s license (Class “G” or higher) and safe driving record.
- Previous experience in the community services sector with seniors preferred.
- Work experience with seniors and the physically challenged is an asset.
- Must possess excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- No health condition(s) that may impair ability to drive safely (i.e. vision, hearing, perception, reflexes, certain medications, etc.).
- Understand the limitations experienced by some seniors, such as mobility and hearing and/or vision loss.
- Must have flexibility with schedule as days and hours will vary based on community need.
- Police Security Clearance Check (including vulnerable persons sector) completed within last 6 months
- Clean drivers abstract required.

**Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities**:

- Hours of work - (7) hours per day, Monday to Friday, (35) hours per week excluding meal periods with occasional evenings and weekend shift(s).
- General community environment.
- Significant vehicle operation and client assistance.
- Can lift &/or carry 6-13.5 kg (15-30 lbs.).
