**Head Instructor: Learn to Sail Program 2024**

Dalhousie Yacht Club in St. Catharines is seeking a certified Head Instructor for the DYC Learn to Sail school this summer. We are excited to be expanding our instructional program, having access to a fleet of Laser Picos, 420s, Bytes and Petrels.

**We welcome applicants with**:

- Certified CANsail instructor qualifications (i.e., CANsail 1/ 2, 3/ 4, 5/6)
- Membership in good standing with Sail Canada
- Ability to work throughout the summer (e.g., June weekends, July and August days)
- Previous coaching experience, preferably in a lead role
- Strong leadership, organizational, sail programming and planning skills
- Strong communication and team relationship skills
- Previous experience working with children and youth
- Experience sailing and teaching in a variety of boats
- Current First Aid, CPR certification & Boat Safety certification
- A current Police Check - Vulnerable Sector Screening
- A Pleasure Craft Operators Card with experience driving a motor boat
- VHF ROC (M) radio license

**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- On-water and land-based instruction and evaluation of skills (i.e., Checklick) as outlined in the CANsail curriculum.
- Leadership and support of the instructional team to provide a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment
- Ongoing effective communication with parents and sailors
- Working with and receiving support from DYC LTS director and committee
- Responsible operation and care of sailboats. coach boats, and the sail training area

**Job Type**: Seasonal

**Salary**: $25.00-$26.00 per hour

- St. Catharines, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Licence/Certification:

- Instructor certification /working on certification. (required)
