**Job Description**:
The full-time Psychologist will be an integral part of the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Stabilization (DBT-S) Program within Kinark’s Community Mental Health Program - York Region. DBT-S is a program that works collaboratively with youth 13 to 18 years old who struggle with significant self-harm and/or suicidal behaviours. As a member of an interdisciplinary team, the Psychologist will work collaboratively with the youth’s circle of care (e.g., parents, caregivers, other allied other professionals, and community partners) in the provision of DBT services.
**Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to**:
- Complete an initial comprehensive assessment that attends to the interplay of biopsychosocial factors and vulnerabilities and how they relate to clients’ psychosocial functioning and well-being.
- Occasionally complete psychological assessments for children and adolescents in the York Program
- Deliver psychological consultation and staff education sessions
- Complete a comprehensive DBT formulation and treatment plan as a foundation for treatment.
- Facilitate risk assessments to inform the development of safety plans.
- Provide intensive DBT services which includes one-to-one treatment sessions, parent skills coaching, group facilitation, and after hour crisis intervention services.
- Maintain regular and thorough clinical documentation which includes but is not limited to session notes, clinical reports, outcome measures, critical incident reporting, and colleterial information.
- Actively participate in internal and external meetings as a member of multidisciplinary teams.
**Core Competencies Expected**:
- Understanding of, and the experience with, motivational strategies or other psychotherapeutic approaches to enhance engagement and readiness for change.
- A solid foundation in clinical assessment skills, clinical case formulation, and treatment planning.
- Formal training in, or familiarity with, cognitive-behavioural principles in psychotherapeutic treatment.
- Experience with providing a broad range of clinical services to child and adolescent populations who present with a diverse set of clinically complex presentations.
- A framework for care rooted in principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion that ensures services are provided in a culturally safe and responsive manner.
**Qualifications**:
- A Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (child/adolescent focus) is required.
- Must be registered and in good standing with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Those who are soon to be entering into supervised practice will also be considered.
- Prior training and experience in delivering DBT is strongly preferred.
**Kinark Child and Family Services conditions of employment include but are not limited to successful Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening, completed Pre-Employment Medical certificate, and proof of full vaccination against COVID-19.** Fully vaccinated is defined as having received all required doses of a World Health Organization Approved COVID-19 Vaccine at least one of which being approved for use in Canada and 14 days have passed since your last dose. Proof of vaccination for each vaccine dose received is required.
