We are looking for a dynamic and collaborative leader to join our forward-thinking Community Development Standards Branch team as Deputy Chief Building Official and to make a lasting impact on our organization and community

As a member of our Town’s Leadership Team, you will be committed to the guiding values of our Community Strategic Plan: Innovative Innisfil 2030, and will supervise the day-to-day work of the building department to ensure accordance with Ontario Building Code requirements and timelines and will be responsible for:

- The building inspection process to ensure that the requirements of applicable provincial laws and municipal by-laws are adhered to and enforced.
- Ensuring matters of potential or immediate danger are identified and resolved in relation to buildings and structures as defined in the Ontario Building Code; protecting and furthering the interests of the Town with regard to its legislated responsibilities.
- Exercising the authority to make decisions in all areas of responsibility within the scope of approved Town policies, procedures and collective agreements, as delegated by the Town of Innisfil.
- Assisting in preparing and monitoring of the departmental operating and capital budgets, and with developing work plans, technical projects and departmental objectives.
- Acting on behalf of the Chief Building Official in their absence to perform the legislative duties administering the Ontario Building Code and relevant municipal by-laws; providing technical guidance and direction to Building department staff and to other leaders throughout the organization.
- Job Requirements- Certified Architectural or Engineering Technologist/Technician or Licensed Trades Person.
- Possess Certificate of Qualification from the Director, Building and Development Branch, MMAH in all areas of Qualification listed in the OBC, including Powers and Duties of Chief Building Officials.
- Certified as CBCO with the Ontario Building Officials Association.
- Minimum five (5) years related experience as a Building Official; experience in a supervisory capacity in a unionized environment is an asset.
- Class G Driver’s License in good standing and reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.
- Availability to attend evening and/or weekend meetings or other events; and to respond to major emergencies as required.
