Yonge Street Animal Hospital is a full-service veterinary hospital serving the Metropolitan Toronto area since 1937. **Privately owned.** We have enjoyed an excellent reputation that has been built by the efforts of veterinarians and staff together.

We believe that we will have the physical facilities, computer assistance (Evet sofware) and veterinary expertise to continue our success in the future. **At present, there are 4 full-time veterinarians, and an administrative staff of 18-22 including veterinary technicians, kennel staff, and receptionists.** We pride ourselves in providing the personal and professional care that you should expect from a veterinary hospital. As pet owners ourselves we understand the importance and value of our companions in our daily life. Our team offers a warm, respectful, compassionate, and loving environment to all our clients and their pets. We offer a wide range of services including, internal medicine, surgery, dentistry, the existence of nutritional and behavioural services.
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate **Veterinary Technician** to join our team. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our animal patients. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced and rewarding environment where you can make a difference in the lives of animals and their owners.

**Role**
- Patient assessment and physical examination (TPR and history taken).
- Maintain accurate medical records.
- Phlebotomy and catheter placement.
- Knowledge of basic laboratory procedures.
- Assist veterinarians in performing medical procedures and surgeries.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians.
- Conduct laboratory tests and analyze samples.
- Knowledge of radiology safety and proper technique.
- Perioperative surgical nursing skills.
- Monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures.
- Provide post-operative care and follow-up instructions to pet owners.
- Perform dental cleanings and assist with dental procedures.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and nutrition.

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in veterinary technology preferred.
- Certification as a Veterinary Technician is a plus.
- Previous experience working as a Veterinary Technician is highly desired.
- Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Proficient in conducting laboratory tests and interpreting results.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Compassionate and caring attitude towards animals.

**Salary**: From $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 30 per week
