West Park Healthcare Centre helps patients get their lives back by providing inpatient, outpatient and outreach services in specialized rehabilitative and complex care after a life-altering illness or injury such as lung disease, amputation, stroke, and traumatic musculoskeletal injuries.

***Accountabilities (Working together with a Safety Coordinator Colleague)**:

- Assist the Department of Occupational Health & Safety & Infection Prevention Control in monitoring compliance with applicable Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety &Insurance Act, and Accessibilities for Ontarians with Disabilities legislation and guidelines. This involves keeping abreast of changes, developing and implementing policies and procedures, consulting with managers to ensure they include occupational health and safety principles in their policies and procedures, provide consultation and or direction to the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee
- Consult in the area of Occupational Health and Safety and Disability Management by providing educational in-services, and** **consulting/assisting managers in identifying and resolving workplace hazards and issues

***- Assist with any pandemic issues such as researching Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards, products, compliance and providing alternatives. Oversee/train staff in conducting N95 mask fit testing

***- Conduct Physical Demand Analysis (PDA) and Return to Work (RTW) assessments and safe/suitable/compatibility reviews with guidelines and recommendations
- Co-ordinate/conduct environmental testing as required (i.e. noise levels, indoor air quality assessments)

***- Liase with Campus Development/Environmental Services regarding construction activities for both new and renovations. Ensure contractors are compliant and completed work meets industry standards** **as per policy
- Research and provide recommendations/approval on PPE products in conjunction with Procurement/Environmental Service/SSW that meet hospital and industry standards
- Conduct ergonomic assessments and recommendations
- Review/Analyze employee incidents and follow up with employees regarding their medical status. Ensure the manager is aware of the risk associated with the incident and assist with incident follow-up and investigation as necessary

***- Identify trends and root causes in employee incidents by reviewing types of incidents occurring, where they are occurring, analyze the risk and following up with managers as necessary to minimize or eliminate risk
- Provide employee incident statistics & analysis for balanced score card & other reports as required. Provide statistical information to the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee (JHSC)

***- Act a resource for senior leaders, managers, employees, JHSC on safety concerns by providing direction, advice and support
- Develop, implement, and deliver safety training programs for all employees in the organization
- Ensure the incident database and WSIB reports and cost statements are current and accurate
- Provide accurate and timely statistical reports for the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee and others a required

***- Coordinate any safety incentive program that benefits the organization. Ie Excellence program
- Be knowledgeable of conditions and measures that may affect the safety of patients, residents, students, employees, volunteers, physicians and visitors including:

- Compliance with the safety standards of the hospital and applicable legislation
- Identification and prevention of safety issues and problems
- Taking corrective action, where possible
- Attendance at safety meetings/ training/ updates in accordance with the Centre’s standards
- Work in a manner that exemplifies the core values of West Park: Excellence, Respect, Trust, Collaboration and Accountability

***Qualifications**:

- Degree in Kinesiology preferred
- 5 years of related experience
- Proficient with OH & S Legislation, WSIB and AODA
- Proficient in injury prevention, incident investigation and Disability management including Early and Safety Return to Work and Stay at work programs
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
