Guided by the goals and objectives outlined in the Town's strategic plan, the Communications Specialist will be responsible for organizing and implementing the Town of Erin's strategic communications and public engagement strategies, activities, initiatives and events. **Education**
- Successful completion of a University degree in Communications, Public Relations or a related field.
- Additional specialized training typically acquired through obtaining a post graduate diploma or certificate in Communications, Public Relations or Public Administration is highly desirable.

**Skills & Experience**
- 2-3 years of related experience in a municipal/public sector setting.
- 2-3 years' experience in writing and producing various forms of communication mediums.
- Knowledge of CP style and AODA requirements would be considered an asset.
- 2-3 years' experience in event planning.
- Demonstrated computer mastery, including software used for websites, social media, print publications, video and graphic design. Eg: Canva, Hootsuite, Constant Contact
- Proven ability to manage communications via social media and websites.
- Proficiency with the use of digital cameras, preferably with photography experience and other tools.
- Demonstrated experience in setting SMART goals and measurement metrics.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Drafts corporate messaging, and ensures it is delivered in a consistent and effective manner.
- Manages the Town's entire social media presence.
- Monitors and tracks media issues of relevance to the Town and anticipates and develops a plan to address any potential matter that may arise.
- Compile analytics from social media and make recommendations to the Senior Communications Officer on where the Town should be increasing engagement etc.
- Supports the Senior Communications Offer to develop procedures to ensure the Town of Erin brand is effectively and consistently managed.
- When necessary assists the Senior Communications Officer to provide support to members of Council for media relations, presentations, or other public events.
- Assists with the coordination of special events and programs, with a specific view to managing the Town's corporate image.
- Ensures active communications among departments, staff and Council and with external stakeholders.
- Ensures effective tracking and measurement tools are in place to measure the effectiveness of the Town's coordinated communication efforts.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- This incumbent in this position will be working out of Town Hall.
- This position is for a 35-hour a week position Monday
- Friday 8:30-4:30, however the incumbent may also work outside of regular business hours;
- The compensation range for this role is $68,959 - $80,680;
- Proof of full vaccination against covid-19 is required.
