The Town of Gibsons is seeking an experienced professional to join their leadership team on a temporary basis as the Manager of Maintenance and Operations (MMO) for an estimated period of 3-6 months.

This is an exciting and dynamic role that provides an attractive opportunity to work in a unique and distinctive municipality well known for its leadership in natural asset management.

Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure, the MMO is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, operations, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Town’s public works assets, wastewater treatment plant and potable water distribution system.

The MMO provides oversight of the maintenance and overall operations of these critical infrastructure functions as well as Town-owned buildings. This includes ensuring compliance with all provincial and federal regulations, standards, and permits.

Your previous accomplishments demonstrate your ability to manage large-scale projects, lead others effectively, remain flexible while adapting to constantly shifting priorities and consistently exercise sound judgement. You are recognized as a creative problem-solver and are relied upon for your strong analytical abilities.

**REQUIRED EDUCATION & TRAINING**
- Completion of a diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution specializing in engineering, technology, planning or a related area of study. A satisfactory combination of education and experience may be considered. Senior experience in wastewater operations will be considered an asset.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ progressive public works, operations, maintenance or engineering experience, including three (3) years’ in a leadership capacity in a local government organization.
- Experience in the direct supervision of unionized staff including planning/assigning work, coaching and performance management, and occupational health and safety.
- Additional relevant technical training such as Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection and Wastewater Treatment will be considered an asset.

**SUMMARY OF KEY COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE**
- Experience with preparing and managing operations and maintenance budgets.
- Thorough knowledge of the bylaws, policies, standards and other enactments to ensure safe, efficient and effective operation and service delivery in public spaces.
- Working knowledge of health and environmental regulations pertaining to water supply, wastewater treatment systems, storm water management.
- Thorough knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and practices.
- Excellent verbal, written communication, coaching/influencing, critical thinking, and presentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with all levels of the organization, external agencies, contractors and the public including special interest groups and volunteers.
- Ability to prepare reports of a technical and administrative nature and to initiate, develop and maintain a wide variety of reports, records and statistical data.
- Strong computer skills and good knowledge of Microsoft Office software particularly Word and Excel, familiarity with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA).

**ADDITIONAL INFORMATION**
- Must be available to respond to system alarms and emergencies during and outside of regular office hours.
- Satisfactory results from current background and criminal records checks.
- Required to maintain a valid Class 5 BC driver’s licence.
