The Port Colborne Refinery was also commissioned 100 years ago on the shore of Lake Erie. Raw materials and finished products from Vale’s Sudbury and Newfoundland and Labrador operations are transported to Port Colborne for processing.

**Our Team**:
The Surface Exploration team generate, support and progress green fields to advanced-stage projects in the region to ensure the replacement of mineral resources and mineral reserves in Sudbury.

**The Opportunity**

We are currently seeking **3 Exploration Students **to join our Surface Exploration team in **Sudbury **. This is a **fixed term 4-month **position.

As an **Exploration Student **you will provide manual and technical assistance with core facilities organization as well as core processing and data collection at our facilities in Sudbury. Your experience and skills will contribute to improving safety and efficiency of our core processing and storage facilities and will ensure that core is processed on timelines that allow return of data to inform project advancement decisions. Additionally, in this position you will:

- Help retrieve and organize drill cores at the core farm and yard.
- Organize, rack, store, label and photograph drill cores.
- Stack and strap core boxes on wood pallets.
- Process drill cores including core sampling.
- Assist with geotechnical and geological data collection and core logging following established procedures. This may involve assisting project geologists at off-site core logging facilities in the Sudbury area.
- Participate in all pre-operating inspections, workplace inspections, toolbox meetings and safety meetings.
- Operate and assist in the basic maintenance of equipment (vehicles, pallet jacks, forklift, core saw, rock saw, etc.).
- Maintain a clean work environment.
- Follow safety policies, procedures, best practices and government regulations at all times.

**About You**
- Currently enrolled as a year 1-2 geology BSc student or a college student in a mining engineering technician program.
- Self-motivated, Safety-conscious, Flexible, Dependable and pays strict attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills (experience with MS office products).
- Valid Class G Driver’s License mandatory.
