Pay Grid: School Admin ( $88,015.20 to $101,556.00 per year)

Reporting to: Principal

Summary of Duties:
Under the direction of the Lil’wat Nation Chief and Council, Lil’wat Nation Board of Education and the Principal, the Vice Principal will work in accordance with the pertinent policy, procedures, regulations of the Lil’wat Nation and the policy, procedures and regulations of the Lil’wat Nation Board of Education, as well as the Lil’wat Nation Education Law.

Key Deliverables and Expectations:

- Oversee day-to-day classroom operations of High School
- Manage school logistics for High School
- Provide detailed budget information to the Principal and or Education Director when requested or to identify a need for consideration.
- Monitor and report on Teacher and support staff Performance with Professional Development folders and Performance Reviews.
- Report to the Principal and or Education Director on data regarding student performance
- Prepare reports or information for the principal and or Education Director as requested.
- Research new resources and techniques to improve teaching.
- Interview and hire school personnel according to policy in the Human Resource Management Manual
- Review and implement school policies.
- Assist the Principal in guidance and direction to counseling teachers.
- Lead emergency procedures as defined in school emergency policy.
- Organize school events and assemblies.
- Assist the Principal to ensure a safe and clean school environment.
- Prepare High School Staff schedules such as lunch hour, recess and after-school supervision schedule, and Teacher’s assignment schedule.
- Complete professional development when possible, as requested to gain knowledge on current educational theories and practices
- Attend School Board meetings as requested.
- In cooperation with the data entry clerk ensure student grades, report cards, attendance records, student records, tracking sheets, and Ministry documentation are accurately maintained and communicated.
- Supervise High School teacher instruction and assist them with their Professional Improvement Plans
- Assign courses to teachers and ensure high expectations are being implemented.
- Assist the Lil’wat Language and Culture Representative in planning and creating electives and Super courses.
- Work with the Administration team to create “Week Ahead” weekly information for all staff and assist in providing information for the School Newsletter.
- Coordinate with outside agencies for workshops and events in the school e.g diabetes, drug and alcohol, healthy relationships.
- Perform other related duties as requested.

Experience and Attributes:

- A bachelor's degree in education is required.
- A master's degree in education may be required.
- Several years of experience as a senior teacher or department head are required.
- A teacher's certificate for the province of employment is required.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
- Ability to work independently and as an integral member of various teams.
- Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail and time management skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines prioritizes assignments, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Motivated self-starter and with strong interpersonal skills.
- Highly professional in all aspects of business, presentation and interaction with all stakeholders, clients, and Members.
