**JOB SUMMARY**:
Reporting to the Child and Family Services (CFS) Intervention Supervisor of Athabasca Tribal Council (ATC), the Generalist Caseworker Trainee will take an active role in supporting the team while learning all of the fundamentals of the Casework Practice Model, The Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act, policy, and current legislation.

ATC places a great emphasis on assessment of children and families in determining the safety of the child, the need for intervention, and the type of intervention required. The Casework Practice Model is based on the philosophy that children, youth and families should have input into the decisions that affect their lives. Assessment, engagement and collaboration are cornerstones of the Model.

The trainee position is a developmental position that provides support to caseworkers while learning simultaneously.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Support caseworkers with all delegated case management duties, including intake, assessment and permanency as per the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act.
- Maintain a caseload under the direction of the Intervention Supervisor as a trainee as per the provincial delegation schedule.
- Assist/complete ongoing assessments, safety assessments and data entry as required.
- Accompany workers to service team meetings and community visits.
- Arrange and supervise family visits as needed.
- Work collaboratively with communities and families.
- Intake and on-call duties as required.
- Record online data entry in a timely fashion.
- Attend all ATC office and team meetings and training as required.
- Assist with cultural and community events as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS**:

- Degree or diploma in Social Work or related degree/diploma in a human services field.
- A combination of human services certificates and experience may be considered
- Currently delegated or the ability to be delegated in the province of Alberta
- Currently registered or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers if applicable
- Knowledge of Children and Family Services is considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques.
- Must be able to work well as a team and with mínimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a confidential and fast-paced environment.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector.
- Clear Child and Family Services Intervention Check.
- Class 5 Drivers License and Drivers Abstract.
