_**Position Overview**:_

The ECE Assistant will provide a caring, safe and nurturing environment to infants and preschool-to-school ages children under the guidance of the Early Childhood Educator. The ECE Assistant will participate in the planning and delivery of activities that will promote the growth and development of the children at the Child Care Centre.
- **Responsibilities and Duties**:_
- Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
- Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts.
- Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
- Assist with proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
- Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors.
- Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties.
- Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records.
- Peforms other job related duties as directed

- **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**_
- BC License to practice; Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) or ECE.
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Valid First Aid Certificate.
- Knowledge, respect and understanding of Stó: lō and First Nations culture, traditions and language is considered an asset.
- Be creative and positive with a can-do attitude.
- Be mature, responsible and dependable.
- Be flexible to work full-time (8hrs).
- Possess excellent communication skills.
- **Working Conditions**:_

Primarily work is performed in the Child Care Centre.

Immunization Declaration.

Interacting with members, including children, elders, and parents.
- **Terms of Employment**:_
- Employee signs a standard form contract of employment.
- To ensure the health and safety of all employees and members of the community we have adopted a mandatory vaccination policy
- If no exemption applies, deductions will be made at source according to law.
- If applicable, employer contributions will be made at prescribed rates to CPP, EI, WCB and vacation pay.

**Salary**: $20.54-$26.20 per hour
