Resident Care Manager

Interacts and communicates in a manner consistent with Covenant Health’s Mission, Vision and Values. Understands and articulates Covenant Health’s Mission and Values. Participates in Mission integration with staff and residents. Ensures the Mission and Values are known and practiced. Demonstrates respect for others and the cultural diversity of patient population. Strengthens the unit clinically through involvement with resident care. Communicates with physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Communicates effectively with support services. Oversees Unit Clerk duties to ensure physician ordering process and ordering supplies are completed in a timely manner. Completes MDS assessments and care plans and oversees staff completion and accuracy of MDS assessments. Leads staff meetings through participation, contribution, support and problem solving. Monitors patterns of absenteeism and follows through with staff. Recognizes and rewards staff performance. Provides timely, regular feedback to staff, on an ad hoc basis, as well as through the annual performance review. This position is non-unionized.

**Required Qualifications**:
Graduate from an approved School of Nursing is required. BScN is preferred (or an equivalent combination of experience and education). Five (5) years recent nursing experience. Current registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) or College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Heart & Stroke Foundation (Level C) Health Care Provider required.

Charge Nurse experience required. Strong interpersonal; and communication skills. Strong leadership skills. Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills. Exhibits strong clinical knowledge and skill in nursing. Computer skills (Microsoft Office, ESP etc.). Current knowledge in medicine and geriatrics.
