Position Overview:
We are currently looking for a Intermediate Drafting Technician to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

- Intermediate level position for incumbents wishing to pursue a career in all areas of the Engineering Department;
- Detail oriented with the ability to read construction drawings (architectural, structural, mechanical and interior design);
- Knowledgeable in the industry and knows about our products/systems; ability to identify simple potential problems or issues.
- Knows the job - Ability to work on moderately complex activities;
- Ability to work on many projects that are complex; and possesses the ability to understand where gaps exist to improve knowledge
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Check and ensure to receive all necessary up to date drawings/documents to start the engineering drawings;
- Prepares checks and issues more complex drawings;
- Maintain files and records per the current directory structure as set out in the standards;
- Complete Engineering drawings per schedule as assigned through ‘work cards;’
- Check completed work for accuracy and details;
- Carry out drawing assignments as directed for; original submittal, revisions or as-builts based on general direction;
- Identify to senior drafting technician/supervisor discrepancies which may require an RFI to the client;
- Prepare any documentation which may be required for said RFI;
- Attend internal department project meetings as required to support the team;
- Prepare responses to client inquires for processing by Job Captain;
- Interpret Architectural designs and sketches;
- Recommend design changes;
- Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of manufacturing installation and glazing processes;
- Provide work direction to external suppliers/contractors in a professional and cost-effective manner;
- Adhere to policies and procedures and provide input to the development of new and/or improvements to departmental policies and procedures; and
- Any other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Requirements:

- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Architectural Technology Construction Management or Civil Engineering; and
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience in building envelope cladding drafting;
- Previous experience in the glazing/curtainwall industry an asset.

Able to:

- Effectively communicate to all project stakeholders on general and technical information
- Excellent interpersonal skills and in developing relationships with clients and staff
- Create computer spreadsheets and reports
- Able to effectively multi-task multiple stakeholders

Working Conditions
- Work may involve some exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises;
- On site work environment involves some exposure to hazards of physical risks that require knowledge of and adherence to basic safety procedures and precautions;
- Work environment requires wearing PPE in certain locations; and
- Flexible to work overtime - must be approved in advance.
