Institute of Technical Trades is looking for outstanding individuals to join our faculty team in the Welding Skilled Trades programs. These programs provide students with a high degree of practical welding skills and theoretical knowledge in industrial and or construction trade sectors. Institute of Technical Trades seeks full-time / part-time instructor(s) to teach in the following programs:
Welding Boot Camp

Welding Techniques

Welder Fitter

Welding Technology

Institute of Technical Trades instructors are responsible for developing an effective learning environment for students while respecting their diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles.

**What You’ll Be Doing**

Delivering the practical course curriculum in a welding shop/lab environment, which includes ensuring student awareness of course objectives, approach and evaluation techniques;
Tutoring and academic counselling of students, while evaluating student progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the students’ work within assigned courses;
Defining, evaluating and validating learning outcomes and designing appropriate strategies and tools for assessing student learning;
Providing practical ‘hands-on’ individualized instruction into the learning process;
Attending periodic faculty meetings.

Licenses/certifications in various welding processes as required. Red Seal or C of Q in 456A Welder and/or 437A Metal Fabricator an asset.

Minimum of 5 years related professional experience;
Open availability to teach daytime and evenings is preferred;
Experience in teaching on-campus at the post-secondary level or equivalent experience as a trainer in industry preferred;
Experience in curriculum development at the post-secondary level or equivalent is preferred;
Formal studies in adult or higher education an asset;
Strong network of contacts with other professionals in the Skilled Trades industry;
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills;
Demonstrable ability to convey the conceptual and applied aspects of knowledge to a broad range of students;
Committed to excellence in teaching and learning and to working within a team environment.

Institute of Technical Trades is passionate about the transformational role we play in people’s lives. Institute of Technical Trades has been successfully training individuals for the metal trades industry since 1968. We provide skills training, certification and pre-employment services to individuals and trades workers seeking a new career, looking to upgrade or learn a new skill, or facing barriers to employment. Our College is registered with the Ministry of Colleges and Universities and is one of the largest long-time accredited testing centres for both the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) and the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA), and more recently, with Skilled Trades Ontario (National Welder Practical Exams). All of our training is work assimilated and takes place in our fully equipped campus located at 1320 Ellesmere Road, Unit 1 & 2, Scarborough ON.

Our Welding Programs build on our many years of experience that invests in the careful identification of employer needs in the labour market and comprehensive assessment and development of welding skills. They introduce individuals to the welding processes, techniques and knowledge required to begin a successful career in welding. Emphasis is on the ‘hands-on’ development of practical welding skills to effectively prepare skilled graduates for a smooth transition into the workforce and gain secure employment.
