As such, Girls Inc. is a social service agency that serves the underserved and at risk population of Durham region. We offer comprehensive programs designed to help girls/youth ages 5 to 18 across Durham Region build self-confidence and connectedness while developing the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to make healthy lifestyle choices in the areas of nutrition, physical activity, body image, and stress management and to overcome social, gender, and economic challenges and achieve their full potential.

**Girls Inc. of Durham is interviewing for Camp Counsellor at 5 different locations across Durham Region. **Resumes will be matched with opportunities, based on skills, experience and/or course of study.

**Requirements**:

- Be able to commit to the full term of employment beginning June 2023 through September 1, 2023
- Applicants **must** be a minimum of 16 years of age;
- Basic First Aid and CPR “B” or CPR “C” certifications (is preferred and preference given)
- Leadership or camp experience and/or completion of a Counsellor in Training (C.I.T.) Program (is preferred and preference given)
- Provide a current (within six months) Criminal Information Request prior to employment start date
- Have the ability to work within a group and be a team player
- Supervising and working with groups of children, or one-on-one.
- Help plan, develop and implement Girls Inc. and related programs to ensure that children at Girls Inc. of Durham camps can flourish and grow strong, smart and bold youth.
- Perform administrative and record-keeping tasks associated with the efficient operation of the various programs.
- Promoting a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for all campers and staff.
- Ensuring the safety of all campers by providing emergency or first-aid assistance when required.
- Demonstrate good customer service and communication skills to deal effectively and courteously with staff and the general public; good interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships
- Experience working with children in a similar setting is an asset
- Attend all staff meetings and trainings, including evenings and weekends
- Other duties as assigned.
- Be available to attend training week June 26-30, 2023_

**Summer Camp staff will, under the supervision of the Girls Inc Program Coordinator, are responsible for implementing Girls Inc. group programs in satellite locations throughout Durham Region (Pickering, Whitby, Brooklin, Oshawa and Ajax). Will work closely with staff to plan, organize, and co-facilitate Girls Inc. summer camp programs to girls 5 to 16**

**Job Type**: Seasonal
Contract length: 9-10 weeks

**Salary**: $15.50-$17.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
