Job Overview:
The PLC programmer/integrator is responsible for programming assembly lines, robotic devices, or other manufacturing processes using programmable logic controllers (PLC). This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, logical thinker who enjoys working with different machines in combination with computers. The PLC programmer/integrator will work full time but experience a moderate amount of travel and activity in the workplace, such as supervising the installation of their programs and machinery.

**Responsibilities**:

- PLC programmer/integrator will be required to draw and design schematics that show how electrical components and panels work together to accomplish a process. They will also examine existing drawings and double-check them for reliability and manufacturability. A logic flow diagram is an example of one such schematic that PLC programmers must be able to create and interpret.
- Ability to create programs using automation software after designing a process diagram. They must also be able to document the program’s purpose and safety guidelines.
- Ability to set test criteria and test new program for reliability and safety with automation equipment before installing a new program. Will also test programs and equipment from other developers.
- Oversee a successful and smooth integration of the program with equipment. Assist technicians during installation process, offer guidance, and train them on safe and effective operation of the program.
- Provide continuous technical support to both internal staff and outside customers. This is completing by assisting both verbally and through manuals, troubleshooting any issues that may arise and improving the program’s performance over time.
- Ability to combine expertise in electrical, mechanical, and software engineering by using foresight and strong analytical thinking skills to troubleshoot and avoid problems.
- Responsible for fulfilling duties in a safe, responsible manner in keeping with plant safety guidelines, safe work practices, and applicable regulations.
- Conform to requirements of Canadian Electrical Code and other relevant legislation relating to lockout procedures, tagging, colour coding, hazard warning signage, and fire prevention
- Will perform all other duties as required

Qualifications:

- Journeyman Electrician: 5-8 years (preferred)
- Ability to understand and use PLC programming languages (including ladder logic, sequential function charts, function block diagram, structured text, and instruction lists)
- Ability to understand and use Automation software (such as Omron CX Programmer, Sysmac Studio, Citec software)
- Experience with Automation equipment (Allen-Bradley preferred)
- Experience with In-Line Inkjet printers
- Experience with Vision Cameras
- Attention to detail
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Solid team player
- Ability to maintain consistent shift hours
- Access to reliable transportation
